Description Hi everybody! ^^

Here is a little Step-By-Step (Oh, Baby) for those who wonder how the hell I painted that flower… the other one was a little… vague… you know…

All done in one layer of Painter IX.

1 ~ 4 -> Adding colors/light/shadows to the first layer of petals using Chunky Oil Pastel Tool.

5 ~ 9 -> Adding colors/light/shadows to the second layer of petals also using Chunky Oil Pastel Tool.

10 -> Smoothing with Grainy Water Tool.

11 ~ 16 -> Adding colors/light/shadows to the center layer of petals using Chunky Oil Pastel Tool.

17 -> Smoothing carefully with a tiny Grainy Water Tool.

18 -> Adding the interior shadow with Chunky Oil Pastel Tool.

19 ~ 21 -> Detailing of the interior using Details Oil Brush tool.

Here you’ll find a Gif Animated version of the same Steps -> [link]

Hope that can help even a little!

See ya!

I don't have Painter, but I do have Photoshop CS3. I know that you can download brushes onto there, and I've been dying to get my hands on a Grainy Water brush. Do you know where I could find it?

This is great! REALLY, really helpful! But I find it's easier to paint flowers traditionally than digitally!

Of course, I know that All the green would have mucked up the flowers if you've coloured it wholly in one layer XDDDD

Washu-M In reply to blackstorm [2009-06-16 17:07:05 +0000 UTC]

yeap!
One layer! XD

I used to watch my aunt while she painted something with Oils on canvas... then I thought it would function with painter too... XD

you're welcome Storm! XDDD

blackstorm In reply to Washu-M [2009-06-16 17:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's indeed logical -but that is why I prefer digital painting because of the layering (Most of my colored works are done on multiple layers), because when I colour traditionally it's impossible to fix the mistakes once it happens (I've a tendency to make mistakes in colouring, so I often end up ruining this and that so....blerg...I don't know if I ever want to paint traditionally ever again >_< ).
