Description A binary is any system that has two components. Based upon this definition the term can be used to represent two adjacent stars, a code of zeros and ones, like in a computer program, or a system of dots and dashes used for communication.

A codec is a device or program that is able to encode or decode a stream of information. A codec encodes a data stream or signal for transmission or decodes it for playback or editing.

So the title relates to a number of things, the background device is a telegraph clicker and was used for sending Morse code.  It is a binary codec because it has the ability to encode or decode a data stream.  Similarly, the pencil.  However in this case, the data stream is not dots and dashed, but codes on paper that represent our lives, and events in them.  From this perspective, the pencil and the device share a similar task, but fulfill that task in very different ways.

There's your "high speed" Internet.  We still have some old telegraph poles standing near the railroad tracks, covered with vines and sagging wires.

you have NO idea of how close you come to the truth. I live in a rural area,  cellular connections are often faster than the "highspeed"  LOL.. I have in my house.  Nuff said... any more will just bum me out

There's an old story about a telegraph office wanting to hire a new tech. All of the applicants took a seat in the outter office and waited. Finally one got up walked through the door to the managers office and was hired. The manager had a key in his office and he was sending, "If you can read this, come in through the door." The point of the story was always be prepared for your next job and don't expect them to train you.

I still have my brass key around here someplace I know where my Ten-tec transceiver is, all 75 watts of it and I would think that it still works just fine. Hand-made in Tennessee, way back in 1975

_. . .. _._. . love the combination of communication tools that most have long forgotten in favor of "texting" on their cell phones. Great focus and composition as well.
