Description In case anyone was wondering what use the Seeker from the last update would be put to, I present to you the first abortive sketch of my latest commission.

Those with an eye for so-called "old-skΓΌle" anime will immediately(Or eventually, considering the protean quality of this sketch.) recognize the famed Lovely Angels or the Dirty Pair as they are also known.

I decided to defer to the characters' reputation in this case, and show the FMP mecha having a hard time capturing the titillating twosome, as the Lovely Angels are reputed for their penchant for destruction and massive collateral damage, intentional and otherwise.

True to habit, this sketch bears absolutely no resemblance to the final piece, as I felt this particular composition lacked that "kittenishly kewt" quality that usually makes a good DiD drawing work.

It's a bad habit of mine I know. I can't stand to draw something only one time, as I fear the perfect composition may elude me if I don't try another POV.

Oh well, nobody's perfect. (Especially not perfectionists!)

HAHAHAHA, I know we don't mind seeing the different views you want to draw, and they seem to be somewhat in the same league as that infamous Prin

In their actual comic and novels, they are really far more destructive than Prin. (In one mini-series, they actually triggered a massive super-nova! )

If this were canonical, they'd probably destroy all the drones, and the planet they were fighting on; but then they wouldn't end up all tied up, and I'm mot interested in drawing that outcome.

Nice work! I recognized Kei and Yuri right away and was glad to see the Lovely Angels. You don't see them much these days.

Yea, I regretfully notice that any anime before 2002, is now considered old skΓΌle.

Interesting piece. It's nice to see these wip versions. This is nice, if the final one turns out even better, then you have a definite winner
I'll wait and see how they compare.

I absolutely LOVE the fact that they're still fighting back through their bonds. It's appropro for the Dir.. Lovely Angels and it makes them all the more appealing targets. The harder they are to get, the more I want to get them.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous ^^

Totally love the fact they're putting up such a fight but I figure the seeker behind them is about to 'finish' them 'off', right?

I need to learn how to draw more dynamic stuff like this. I'll be sure to credit you as my inspiration when I do.

For dynamic composition, you can't beat Kenichi Sonoda! Check out Gunsmith Cats or Cannon God Exaxxion.

Those manga are like textbooks for adding a sense of drama and power to one's art.

Hm, those are good recommendations. I'll be sure to invest my time in obtaining those two, when I can get the money. Plus, I hear the girls in Gunsmith Cats are pretty nice...

YES! I love the tape dispensers coming down and their little smoke trails. The poses with the guns pointing out in defiance until the very end is great!

Will there be some more destroyed seekers in the background? I bet their quite expensive

Nah, Class A's are pounded out on automated assembly lines.

It's a good thing I didn't send a Tank Type, though.

Class B: [link] Heavy Aerial Seeker. Damsel drums X 3. Armament: SJ cannon.

Class C: [link] High Speed Seeker Carrying Capacity X 1. Armament: Reinforced tentacles + RTD hard points.

Class D: Aquatic Seeker [link] Assembles Slaver Mermaid Drones.

Class E:High Capacity Aerial Seeker. [link] Damsel drums X 5. (Feel free to call this one a "Mummy Seeker" if you wish.)

Class F: Angel Seeker [link] single occupant, minimal armament.

Class G: Tank Type Seeker [link] Non-Flight capable. heavy armor, meta strength capable.

That's all I've come up with so far. More to come of course.

Very dynamic peice. Looking up from the ground level (worms eye view) heightens the feeling of tension. I disagree with putting the bot directly behind the standing girl tho, as putting it off to the side, or using 2 to balance it would have worked far better and shown more detail, as well as given the sense of impending danger a bit more oomph. The idea of them fighting back makes for an un-DiD-ish picture, but an excellent FEEL and really good composition. (After all, the basis of DiD is the girl is in a position she CAN'T fight back!) I like it personally, aside from the issue of putting the bot right behind the one girl...

Maybe I shouldn't post the rejected compositions after all. Comments like this make me want to go ahead and finish the piece, which is even more work for these lazy bones.

Your comment about the mecha placement is interesting. probably wouldn't change it though. Such a move would send me into five more sketches trying to find the right position.
