I just came across this one. Similar theme, I think. But here, there is another element. In this picture, I think the girls has to become trans-human to go on her mission. The message for me is that to go beyond Earth, we need to go beyond Humanity. And let's face it; transforming into an android and living on energy alone, independant of all the stuff space simply doesn't provide, being able to go into stand-by or switch-off, perhaps allowing remote control, would be the most practical solution for space-missions.

Your thoughts follow my own on this one. If we are ever to reach the stars ourselves, rather then relying on poor robotic proxies, then this is the method I imagine we will have to use. This image is sort of the mirror image of Soul Searching fav.me/d6u6k5i in that it strikes a much more hopeful tone while using similar elements. In my mind it states "look what we could achieve" if the transition to a cybernetic state went well, whereas the other image shows the possible consequences if it did not. The two images together show my own ambivalence about the subject.

Yes, it would be "the best of both worlds". How can one react but ambivalent about it. It would be a daring step. The future is always uncertain, but given other possible dystopic results of our development, becoming a cybernetic society might not be the worst outcome.
