Description
Cerebrate Zasz.Zerg Cerebrates were commanders of the Zerg Swarm under The Overmind, their father, and will of The Swarm. Cerebrates are larger versions of the original zerg strain, yet, are much more intelligent with the wisdom of many lifetimes.
Unable to speak, Cerebrates communicated telephatically as beautiful symbols etched temporarily in their sides, glowing against the upper layer of flesh.
There were many broods of ferocious warrior zerg assigned to several cerebrates. One in particular, Zasz, one of the most loyal cerebrates of the Overmind ruled over the Garm Brood. Zasz, a clairvoyant, was able to intercept messages from enemies in deep space. He was well known for hit and run tactics in battle.
Zasz was killed by Zeratul of the Dark Templar (Nerazim).

On another note, Zasz (Z-ah-z) is my favorite Cerebrate! I always refered to him as a spazz. I guess one would have to pronounce that (sp-ah-zz) and not spazz for it to work, but that's fine. Haha.
Kerrigan and Zasz fluff is a dirty water I love to tread.

It's a real shame the Cerebrates died.... It would have be fun to play as one in SC2.
But it makes me wonder.... In Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Kerrigan is deinfested, if the Cerebrates are dead and Kerrigan is no longer the "Queen Of Blades," who the heck is going the Swarm?!
Sources say its very intelligent brood-mothers that Kerrigan put in charge.... While some say that there are Cerebrates still alive. Who should I believe!? @~@

I would go with the brood mothers on this one.
One of the creators of starcraft stated that the cerebrates were connected with the Overmind, therefore they died.
They needed the Overmind to survive.

In the book Queen of Blades, the author mentioned that strange symbols and lights flickered off the skin of cerebrates when they communicated or fully aware. The lights seemed to dim when they had their minds focused elsewhere. : )

I used to play other classic RTS'es though.
So this is actually a unit in StarCraft?

Haha! Everyone does! I went back and looked at the actual sprites for these guys. They didn't have eyes or the really big mandibles (though the did have a mouth). But, I think my version is so much cuter. Other than that it's pretty close. ;3

It was made back in 1998 but it is still wildly played! StarCraft II is coming out soon, so if you're intersted, get the game for 19.99 at Wal*Mart and then be prepared for the sequal!

Yes! I still do both he and Daggoth. I actually don't think I have took a picture of Daggoth, but he's in the gallery somewhere under Zerg.

Cerebrates can't move much. They can bring their front end up, and walk a little but not over long distances so they just basically sit around and look cute.
