Trying to lighten my mood and inspire myself to draw by posting some artwork I've neglected to show on dA!

This is Fossil, my lil robo sona/OC!
You may know him from Twitter and may have seen how he's gone through a few different appearance and name changes (Was named Ghobi who was a ghost inhabiting the body - gonna use that prompt for a different robot eventually) before I finalized this one! He borrows from a few older designs I had and neglected to properly work on so I kinda merged them all into this big lug!

Fossil is a robot built as a containment shell for a man-made organism that was infused with nano-machines. This black sentient substance was corrupted with an unknown virus and ran rampage on the lab it was created before vanishing. A lab member had contained it to protect it (everyone wanted to kill the poor thing) and escaped with it to the outside world. She had constructed the robotic shell (who she deemed Fossil as play on the resurfacing of a creature thought dead) to contain the organism and keep it's now-destructive behavior contained. She fled upon his creation to hide herself from those that sought the organism, knowing that the organism could be hidden in the robotic shell, they could connect her to the organism.
Beyond the cranium headpiece, Fossil has specific personality parameters that lock the organism into behaving and remaining contained within. While Fossil has his own personality and the two are considered separate beings, Fossil is equally the organism that acts as his brain.
Fossil suffers memory lapses, gaps, or trouble distinguishing reality from falsified memory. Often, Fossil will claim to have human memories, remember memories of a human life, remember times in the lab, being experimented on, or claim to have been completely alive before. However, he is not sure if such is truth.
The personality parameters that reside in Fossil cause him to act bodacious, slightly egotistical, and highly clumsy - all to keep the violent nature of the organism pacified. He gets easily embarrassed and slightly aggravated upon such embarrassments, but he struggles to actually act in any violent or aggressive way. Usually such acts are cancelled out as he attempts them and he reverts to a proud or loud, showing-off mentality.
Fossil is now a wanderer but often feels unsure of his place or reason for his adventures. He's quick to take part in any mundane act that offers him time to kill or people to talk to.

He'll probably be getting modeled in 3D sometime next semester or over the summer for a portfolio piece! Hard surface modeling, hell yeah!
