A friend of mine wanted to see what I used to draw like. so here it is...I drew this in 1997, you can see how "un-polished" everything is.
This had no sketch, I drew every character in ball point pen. colored with color pencil, obviously.
12 years is a lot of time, it usually doesnt take 12 years to improve from this to what i can do now. generally, if one studies hard, it can be achieved in about 4 to 5 years.
My friend was questioning his own possibility of making it as pro artist.
Skill is an obvious need, but it really comes down to the bottom line of wether you like it or not, if you have the craving to draw often. If you are passionate about something, getting good at it is only a by-product.

you know, i would never have guessed you drew this. if you think it shouldn't have taken 12 years for you to go from this to what you do now, well..that's just silly! you worked damn hard and it shows! :3

^^ well, i wish to become a pro-artist to, but i kinda lack some confidence, when lookin at artist like Adohis, Rhall etc i kinda feel...
hopeless ^^
i mean, its not that i think i can not make it at all, i just think im not gonna become one of the best, and thats (to be honest) one of my dreams
atleast one thing i can be proud of and i can say, man IM FREAKIN GOOD AT ^^
well anyway, its still cool to see how you drew 12 years ago^^

Even if it WAS unpolished back then, a lot of your characters still had some unique qualities to them.
(Aside from the quality, what you've said and shown could give ANYONE more confidence in themselves to get better, especially if they're definitely in love with art and if they're passionate about it. You've given me a lot of hope for myself.

How interesting! But isn't this also a little dependent on how old you were at the time? Because if 12 years ago you were 12 as opposed to say, 20... it'd make a world of difference wouldn't it?
