I've always loved Quetzalcoatl.
He's my favorite of Aztec/Mayan art.
(also love the goddess Mertseger of Egypt.)

Holy cow, that is awesome! I love the style, it's like ancient Aztec art modernized. Very cool.

I've been itching to try stuff like this, too. I'm having trouble finding books/sites witha lot of ancient/folk/tribal art, though.

Wonderful job. The long fingernails particularly were an interesting touch (lords during the period would let their fingernails grow long as a symbol of their status, ie that they didn't have to work). However, if I may be so bold to criticize this, that doesn't really look Mayan. Rather you drew him in the style of Central Mexico (which makes more sense anyway, as that's where this god was worshipped). Most of the costumeelements have parallels with the art canons of the Mixtecs and Aztecs (the spondyllus shell on his waist, the shell medallions on his garments, the fan ornament on his back, the stars [half-closed eye symbols], etc.). And the head of course is a dead giveaway to the tenoned heads from the Pyramid of Quetzalcoatl at Teotihuacan...
I'm sorry, I'm probably giving you a headache. It's just that Mesoamerican art and history's a hobby of mine (and I can be kinda anal about accuracy).
Regardless, Quetzalcoatl looks great.

LOL Yeah, I've found that most people can't differentiate between the diverse cultures and art styles of Mesoamerica.
Actually, what most people don't know was that apart from his better known aspect as the Plumed Serpent, in the Post-Classic Period (the centuries immediately before the Spanish Conquest) Quetzalcoatl was more frequently shown in a humanoid guise, usually as an old, bearded man with a buccal mouth mask ([link] he's the one on the right). To your credit, you got his characteristic shell pendant right ([link] ).
