Outlaw
"...Now that the sun was sleeping, Outlaw took a deep breath of crisp, clean air. After those weeks away, the ash wasn't stirred up and tainting the air with that dusty smell it carried. The scent of newness made the Guard feel alive, and his heart beat that much faster. Without the competition for brightness with the sun, the stars shone brighter in the sky and winked down happily at the travelers. The tracks stretched for awhile, so he decided to start a conversation. There was no harm in it, after all. "The stars are burning so bright tonight...like they're lighting the sky a bit extra just to show the way for us." A gentle breeze blew towards their faces, tossing Outlaw's onyx colored mane like a dark curtain in the wind. This night was just so peaceful and, despite the ashen landscape, perfect to him. The smile he wore never left his face, but grew more wistful as he looked back from the sky above to the tracks beneath their hooves..."

Khazada
"...Even as night was settling in, Khazada couldn't help but remove her gaze from the tracks and glance up at the sky when Outlaw mentioned the stars. Pausing in her stride, she let a small smile slip upon her face. Maybe Outlaw was right, maybe the stars seemed to know the importance of their task as well. Or maybe it was just one of those nights. But Khazada liked the idea of some luck finally showing for their group as no doubt they needed all the luck they could manage. It would seem even the night wind was on the dun mare's side as it brushed her long forelock out of her eyes. This made her smile grow a bit more as she felt her spirit begin to rise..."

Galloway
"...Gallow’s heart rate slowed as the air began to cool with the setting sun. He loved the night. Everything about it was quite and secret. The breath he usually held around other horses slowly released during the night. It was his own little paradise..."

"...Gallow drew his eyes up to the fading sky. His comment about the stars made Gallow wonder if it was true. Where they showing us the way? They did seem extra bright this night. Their distant light eased Gallow’s fears..."

Delvin
"...Night had fallen upon the ashy land now; the burning sun had finally disappeared beyond the horizon. The island looked even more foreign now than it had under the scorching light of the sun, if that was possible. The teams' hooves plodded through the ash with continuous dull thuds. The bay stallion briefly wondered if the other teams were having any success, specifically the ones tasked with beginning the healing process on the land. Some foliage had already begun trying to forge a new ecosystem in the ash, but nowhere near enough to sustain the herd for an extended period of time..."

Amarante
"...Amarante looked at the sky, she had heard of birds made of stars. She listened to Delvin's instructions, memorizing them to her mind. She wasn't nearly as tall as the others, but neither was Outlaw. Amarante wished she was faster at times like this. Maybe then she would be a better asset. She wondered if her future gift would be something to do with speed. "God I hope so, that or something like strength or the ability to talk to animals," she thought to herself. She wasn't ready for a gift yet, however,and would have to go with her own strength for now..."

A lot of crazy ash bear fighting has been happening in our group and I wanted to do something a little calmer. Plus I wasn't up to drawing an ash bear quite yet. Too much stuff going on for that! Here's Gallow looking up at the stars as the sun sets on the Southern Isle. I know the moon and stars wouldn't look like this exactly but I wanted to give it a whimsical feel. :>
