Description When it comes to purebred working border collies, you can get a menagerie of colours. Whites, blues, merles, black/white, red/white, etc. I think I hit the jackpot in obscure though when, after a month of care, my latest boy ended up being a shaded sable. So I'm posting more as a reference of proof that you can get such strange colours. Plus it's cute haha
So why is he a shaded sable, and not a blue?
His nose is black, but the dark areas of his coat are blue. To have a blue/white dog, the nose will be a slate colour (that is, grey and not black as blue is a colour dilution), which rules him out as being a blue.
Personally, I never knew you could get such a colour, but there you go. I also met a showdog that was shaded sable (but with standard markings), which was really interesting. Shaded sable purebred border collies do exist
I'll try to get some better photos of the colours he has, but for now it's just a nice portrait of him.

He's a bit cute, isn't he? xD
You should of seen him when I first got him, he was so mangy and stinky, not to mention petrified of anything, anyone and everything :c But now he's realized he can be a puppy, and I've started breaking him in, and he's quite the talented gigantor haha
