I love the legs, don't listen to Zago. They don't understand stylized art and how it adds motion and character to a picture.

That's a legit question. I have nothing agains this particular author. This could be asked about any decent pic with this kind of "touch". I'm not asking about every single anime stilization and technique in every anime related pic ever, that's all about producing alot of it fast and without a lot of effort. I can understand why they're doing it.
Here tho, i see an image of an ok overall quality, but crooked legs. Looks like i'm missing something cause i can't see what's the point.

Well, I apologize for being so curt, but if you saw an image of overall quality, why only point out the one bit you didn't like and nothing else? I happened to notice your comment by chance, and while it's a genuine question it seemed (like my comment) also very curt and indelicate. ''What's with the crooked legs?'' sounds very discouraging and, even though it wasn't my art, I still found it quite hurtful as I draw crooked legs as well.
As for what you may be missing, it's a certain something some artists use to exaggerate motion and dynamic, it doesn't mean that they're a bad artist who can't draw legs. For example, a lot of people complained about similarly implemented animation techniques in the very popular overwatch game. The characters' arms literally whip bonelessly around as if they are made of rubber and a lot of people berated the animators despite them knowing what they were doing. Here, have a look:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHLfnWβ¦
The 'crooked arms and legs' bending in impossible ways, bodies squashing and stretchingΒ not to mention hilarious, weird faces are very noticeable in these slowed down clips.
Good art doesn't always have to be realistic, it's supposed to look cool, even if you wind up making the legs look weird to match the fluid curves of the rest of the drawing.

What's up with crooked legs?

The radius and ulna in the human leg are seldom straight.

They aren't actually crooked per say. Putting them at this angle allows a more dynamic look to the art!The one in the back may look more crooked, but that's because it's going behind her and Whisp had to create a type of perspective to show that. It really is style and perspective that created the look!Β

If you put it in front you'll get very strange silhouette where i see discrepancy in image. I saw that but with "cheaper" drawings so i felt like asking. After your comment, the short answer as i see it would be: the one sacrificing resulting image cohesion for a lower time cost with a fast way to add more dynamic look using this method. Thanks for an actual answer.

Sorry it isn't up to your standards, but jeez dude, she's a good artist and deserves praise and encouragement. If you don't have anything nice to say, no one is forcing you to comment.
Β As for constructive criticism, it's all well and good, but wait for people to ask for it or you're really going to hurt someone's feelings!
What if some random guy walked up to you while you were in the grocery store and started telling you everything that was wrong with the food you were buying, completely unasked for?

Artists should be praised and criticized. If you are an artist who is so sensitive to criticism, then that is your own problem to deal with. Artists look to improve their art in general, and criticism is welcome. If you are personally offended by criticism of another person's art, then it is yourself you need to blame, not them, and I dare call it self centered.

Well he isn't an artist per se. But yes, unless you want to mine some lulz, usually it's not worth the time spend arguing with people with defective logic.

Trust me, I got some lulz alright. An artist who thinks criticism is bad? Yes, definitely not an artist per se lololol

One, this is faulty logic at best. he asked a legit question. Two, people who don't make art sometimes have the best criticism because they don't know the technicalities. They just know when something is screwed up.Β
The second bit came from my Drawing One Professor at art school, so I took it to heart.

I understand that you both think the legs are ''screwed up'' but...
Don't you think it would hurt your feelings just a LITTLE if you spent a really really long time on a piece of art, and then decided that the girl just didn't look active enough, so you drew some of her hair flapping in the wind, and then after all this time you spent, in art school learning to draw hair nonetheless and paying for it, the very first comment you got simply read
"What's with the stupid hair?"
Not ''I wish I could do lighting like this, and she's really cute! But.. I don't understand your choice of hairstyle!"
Not: "Great picture!! Thanks for sharing your content! One question: Is the hair messed up on purpose, or am I missing something?"
Nope. Just went out of their way to click 'comment' and type up a very rude "What's with the stupid hair?" after all your hard work. You don't find that in the least bit hurtful and mean? I mean, I did, and I don't even know Whispwill.

Also! I'm actually surprised I DON'T get comments like that on my art, as I seldom draw things of good quality pfft.
If I did I'd probably admit to just being lazy.Β
Whisp is an artist I look up to immensely. Don't get my words confused for hate. <3

Same here, I don't mean to be hateful, I just wish people treated artists better. It's hard to imagine how much love and devotion it takes to be any good, and how thankless it already is. -__-

Okay but I don't think the legs are messed up? Did you even read what I said? I gave an actual reason for the legs looking the way they do. I think the drawing looks fine, like most of Whisp's art. The danger of perspective is that it never looks perfect to everyone. That's a risk you take. Don't get so caught up in protecting Whisp that you misread things.Β
Also, no not really. It wouldn't hurt my feelings personally because of critiques at school. People can say some rude stuff, man. it helps just to move on.
I just think their question was valid, and that your logic of "People who aren't artists shouldn't criticize art" isn't very logical at all. I'm not trying to argue lol I think you're a very nice person to be so considerate of Whisp's feelings tbh
With that, I'm going to stop replying. I don't think it's polite to pollute the comment section of art with arguments <3

I'm thinking this guy maybe shouldn't be an artist on a public platform whatsoever if he gets personally offended by criticism of someone else's art, nevermind his own. Criticism is a crucial part of getting better. I don't know what la la land this guy is living in but it's entitled as fuck lmao.
