AP Payment for Castanetta of their beautiful harpia, Grimoire ~

Ha-ma-gawsh this bird this bird. He is by far one of my favorite stryx, and after drawing him, the love has grown even more *-* he is just too pretty~ Everything about him was a blast to do~ the layout was one of those 'pfft, this would be perfect' kind of thoughts that came to mind, and I sketched it out right away (like seriously, I was at work and everything, sketching on my break) and then when it came to filling in the details, I added the moths and somehow managed to fit everything into each space (and you can check, they all are at least 300 x 300). I actually had to stop myself, and work on the AP sheet I submitted before this (and my feathercloak entries) or else I would have run out of time because I just was having a lot of fun with this guy.

The backgrounds alone... hamg... since the space was a bit more confined with this one, I wanted to put as much detail into each background as possible, but still wanted to go with that 'wasteland' sort of feel. With working on nocturnal birbs so much, I forgot how much fun evening/morning skyscapes were to do ;; just hng... I really stepped out of my comfort zone, considering I don't usually 'do' backgrounds, least not ones you can see hur hur nightime ftw ahem, but... with lots of sunset/sunrise pictures for reference, I found that there was a lot of variance in the hues seen during these hours and well.. I really had a lot of fun with that as well.

Also, the bottom one was an idea I went with that sort of went like this 'oh man, wouldn't it be cool to draw him sitting on a headstone, looking over a graveyard in a waste-landish setting? yeah that would be cool' and it wasn't until I wqas at the coloring stage did I realize.... with his size... he'd probably crush like, five gravestones with one foot ... SO just neveryoumind about the size thing there, that's not a headstone, it's a... very big rock... that happens to be flat....surrounded by giant trees.... yeah >>;

Anyhows, really enjoyed drawing this bird, and had a lot of fun with all of it~

Also Also... for some reason, totally getting a Lion King vibe and want to like, listen to the OST now.... its probably the background
