Thank you! As I said on my steampunk Dexter pic, it seems like such an obvious combination. I can just imagine Dee Dee causing trouble in the old fashioned lab and Dexter as the boy inventor, with Mandark believing science is only for gentlemen.

I just used a bunch of references and combined it with outfits Dee Dee and Mandark already had...not as difficult as it sounds!

but basically steampunk is a way of blending futuristic and Victorian elements. It's mostly done in art, writing, and cosplay and there are several basic "personas." I drew Dee Dee to look kind of like a tinkerer or street urchin who is always getting into trouble, whereas Mandark is styled after the Victorian aristocrat/gentleman, since on the show he's always dressing up and acting fancy and snobby, lol. (Dexter, obviously, is the mad scientist/inventor type ). Hope that helps!

Thank you! I wrote in one of the other comments that I'd like to try drawing some of the show heroes (like Honeydew, Action Hank, and Major Glory) as steampunk versions sometime.

And you're right, it does come from books! Honestly I've never read much Steampunk myself - I know there are some more recent books but some of the earlier and more classic ones are books by Jules Verne, or The Time Machine by H.G. Wells.

Right, that one is a steampunk classic! You should also watch the Disney movie "Atlantis," it's very steampunk-ish (and it's really good anyway).

I went through and tidied up my gallery (since I realized I didn't need to post every single DL pic I ever drew XD) but not everything is in storage - I still have the Vday pic and I think some are over on my Tumblr...
