Description A study of this awesome portrait by Ilya Repin:Β bit.ly/1woIG67

I think this is a great way to do master studies, because it forces you to understand and utilize a master's ideas rather than to copy them without thought.

I love this so much! The variety of hues in his face alone is incredible.

I love the emotion and story in this piece! His eyes have a whole universe in them. Also the tiny details, like the really faded tattoo and the battered shoulder-guard just says so much!

I love your use of colors in this study, and his facial markings and just. Everything feels so alive and vibrant, as if he would come to life at any moment. Brilliant work!

Oh sweetness! Β  I love the obvious personality you have in this guy. Β  And I can see Repin's influences in your rendition, especially around the eye and the facial shape. Β  The lighting has your distinctive flair; very nice work. Β

Not usually, just however much time I have to spend. Β Though after spending hours on a study, you'll begin to notice more subtle things about the original work.
