The process of unloading the Cargo Carriers consumes the first weeks and months on Mars.

The first container’s open from the bottom, the entire bottom panel descending on tracks, a platform holding the heavy equipment required for further dismounting: heavy winches, powered lifts, fork trucks. Next come entire trucks designed to hydraulically lower or raise their cargo bearing beds, so freight may be transported, loaded or unloaded anywhere without benefit of a loading dock structure or ramp.

The Martians need to utilize every resource they’ve brought from Earth. Once unloaded the containers are tasked as temporary habitats – having been designed with punch-out panels and carrying pre-fitted window and airlock modules, and prefabricated interior partitions complete with wiring and plumbing.

For an image of the temporary container towns which spring up around the stripped cores of the Cargo Carriers, an image of the Mars Settlement a few months after the settler’s arrival is available here: A Hard Day’s Night.

For a view of the Mars Settlement imaged within the first few years after landing see my image Syria Planum Landing.

For a view of a domed Martian habitat imaged a hundred years post landing see my image: Under The Domes at Nightfalls Edge.

For the Mars Settlement Project Complete Sequence, from final preparations prior to launch, including the launch of the Orion nuclear pulse spacecraft which transport the settlers to Mars, and a detailed depiction of Entry, Descent, and Landing, the following image link list will take you on the journey:
