Thanks! Although I'd have to say most of these Disney pieces only turned out the way they did because I worked for really good art directors that guided me along throughout the entire process.

I actually think the Beast is quite decent looking as a human. I hate it when people say he should of stayed a beast because how could he and Belle start a family if they wanted to if he was still a beast? Also I love your painting style it invokes Dutch Baroque.

Thanks! I've never actually heard anyone say he should have stayed a beast, but I can see why suddenly turning him into some hunk sorta defeats the theme that beauty is on the inside.

To me he's still plain looking as a human. After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Lovely work, this is gorgeous!
I have no idea why you thought think Tinkerbell and Monster U. would be more popular. Belle's character alone can overshadow those two crappy Disney movies with ease.

haha. It's not necessarily about the movies themselves. Tinkerbell has been around a lot longer and her character has a lot of spunk. And Monsters U is a Pixar property and for the past 15 years the Pixar movies have been much more popular than the Disney movies, so I just assumed it would be more popular based on ticket sales, merchandise sales etc.

I'm simply basing that off of movie ticket sales and merch sales. Tangled was Disney's most popular animated movie for quite some time, but even that did nowhere near the numbers of Toy Story 3 or any number of Pixar movies. I get that Disney's characters have been around longer though so it kinda makes sense the merchandise for them wouldn't sell as much. The people who were major Beauty and the Beast fans have all grown up now and aren't buying tons of Belle merchandise. I know it still sells, but yeah.

Toys? I was talking about the movie sales themsleves. Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, were huge successes in that departement.

Sorry I thought I was responding to a different comment. Actually movie sales for Pixar movies have been far far far more profitable than any of the recent Disney movies. Although something like Beauty and the Beast has the advantage of being a part of multiple generations of people. The ones who grew up watching it, and their kids.

And taking that ''advantage'' aside, they're still masterpieces. I'm sure the movies would've been still the same hits, even without being a ''part of multiple generations of people''.

Not just Beauty and the Beast, but also Lion King, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc. All big hits. That's a shame to hear that Pixar was more successful. I don't mind Pixar and all, but nothing will beat Disney's wonderful 2D animation movies for me.

Yeah I understand that but toy sales are highly relevant to keeping properties in the general consciousness. People are going to be thinking about Cars all the time if they're constantly inundated with imagery from that franchise every time they go shopping at Vons. That was more my point.

A character with more spunk? You mean the fact that she's an envious brat? Please, I find it offensive that you would even compare someone like Tinkerbell to Belle - Belle has more spunk in her hairlock then Tinkerbell does in her entire character. Hell, even Ariel is a better character then her, and Lord knows Ariel is one of the most whinest characters out there.
Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney's most famous movies. Tinkerbell and Moster U. couldn't top the popularity of some of these Disney movies. Same goes for Lion king and the Little Mermaid, they're too popular to be overshadowed by thos two Pixar movies. Plus, all three of those movies I mentioned came before Monster U. and Tinkerbell's movie.

I kinda like that she's a brat. That being said, Beauty and the Beast was always my favorite Disney movie growing up. I'd say my top three Disney/Pixar films are
1: Up
2: Lion King
3: Beauty and the Beast.
