Description dedicated to all those people who are born
grow up
get married
obtain a mortgage
a car
have a family
kids
die
and remain faceless
forever

conformists in an existentialist world
you see it everywhere
but it's okay
if it makes you happy
right?

even then, i don't think humans have the power to make a 'real' difference outside of their own race... and even if they could, every species will (probably) die out - our own as well - within a large amount of time... so humans can never make a permanent difference within the universe.

differences made on earth become overshadowed or forgotten within a few ten to hundred millenniums.

Not just the stand up photo of and old "concept" (over do with out reason for teenagers and stuff like thte) but the soul of it (the writte bellow) is what make this photo what really is amazing, you don't need to read what you put to know what you want to say.

This photo in particular speak for himself. And that is not easy.

I just need to fave and tell you this, even so my crappy english.

Be well mate and cheers up!

Love the concept you are trying to show billy, it has been done many a time before, but i like this take on it. However, i think the photo lets the concept down. It was a great idea to get dressed up in the suit as it helps portray the stereotypical businessman, and also to straighten your hair, though i dont think there is anything conformist about your particular hairstyle. I think the paper either needs to completely cover your head, or just cover your face, as right now it is somewhere in between, not really covering your head and hinting at a unique person underneath, which defeats the purpose of the concept. I like the centered style you have chosen, as this is indicative of the conformist photography we see so much, but the square format is quite unique and therefore subtracts from it. To be more 'standard' it would be good to make it more of a snapshot style, with poorly constructed empty space and possibly showing the persons entire body. Another thing would be to remove the person from the individual shot, as he is showing signs of individuality, and put him in a crowd, possibly adelaide train station at rush hour. Let me know what you think.

Thank you Jam. I agree with you in that the photo does let down the concept, there are probably many more things in which I could have done to portray the idea across more strongly. I was also disappointed that my hair was in the photo at first but now I think it only helps to humanize that 'digital' face I guess it comes down to what you want - if you want sterility then no hair would be good, but with the hair it emobodies a closer human, social and cultural aspect in my opinion. It also helps to give more form to the face.

I strongly disagree with you that centered photography is more conformist. The majority of snapshots taken of people are in places where composition of the photo is not a key issue, and because of this they usually tend to be angled from the side. I just can't do this, taking photos straight-on is much more my style and it feels a lot more comfortable. I like it because it puts the viewer in a position where they have to analyse the subject in front of them because of the confrontational aspect of the perspective.

Your idea on standard is also really good I think, however that too is just not my style. I don't think I could bring myself to take photos in such a manner even if I wanted to. Hehe.

I'm very keen to try out your Adelaide Train Station idea

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family.Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars,
compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics.
Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing
game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself.

Choose your future.

Choose life.

But why would I want to do a thing like that?

I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got heroin?

thank you John Hodge

I was going to do something like this...
Recruit people from school to wear masks like this and photograph them, and the "normal" people's expressions.
It's true.
I've just yet to live it.

What a fun thing to look forward to.
