He looks pretty mad, and you definitely do not want to mess with an angry owl. Good job on the painting. Owls really do have the most amazing fluff.

lol ACTUALLY owls are mostly fluff :3 The barred owl we have is only about 1 lb, but he has so much feather that he looks bigger. They can puff themselves up HUUUUUGE to be intimidating.
(but he could just be fat, too :D)

Oh my god I am SO excited about the owl movie. I think I'm going to stay up late so I can go to the first showing. 
The theatre here in town has these huge cardboard displays with all the owl characters, and I just love staring at them

I love the way that the feathers and leaves are escaping into the frame. The detail on this piece is absolutely amazing, not only in the feathers (which you are always marvelous at), but also in the detail work on the branch.

I really like this. It looks lovely - with the colours and the owl's face.
When an owl puffs up its feathers, it's trying to look tougher - usually to stake claim on the prey it has or an area so no other owls try to take it. Is that why the owl is puffy?

That is true - owls generally puff up to appear bigger and thus more intimidating. In this, however, I wasn't necessarily going for the biological 'fluff reaction,' but rather more of an aesthetic composition (of course, for those of us who know about owl behavior, it can be a bit confusing
