Aye, poor Calan...I saw what happened to him, I did.'Twas only two nights before, we and the two lasses from the other village ventured out to MacClennan's field for just a bit of fun. We were just crossing the fence when, wouldn't you know it, there was the most beautiful stallion you ever saw. Pure white, like snow, right there in the middle of summer. But that horse, friendliest thing we had ever saw, and you knew Calan...couldn't resist riding anything so beautiful.
At first it was just fun. He hopped onto its back and just walked around, you know? Then we all shouted for him to go for a ride. What harm, right? Calan nudged that stallion in the sides, and before you knew it, off he was, galloping faster than anything I ever saw. He kept going faster and faster, towards the loch, he did. We knew then that the horse was completely mad, with the way he was running like the devil himself was after him. All of us started to yell for Calan to jump off, but he didn't. Looked like he was trying, too, with the way he was leaning almost all the way to the side, but it was like he was tied on...he couldn't get off.
Poor lad. We could only watch as that horse ran all the way to the edge of the loch, then leapt right in without even breaking his stride. We heard Calan screaming all the way until he disappeared under the water...there was nothing we could do for him...
We were there the next morning when the others searched the loch for him, but they never found him, not anything, not even a scrap of cloth. I had to go and tell his mother what happened. Poor woman...how she wailed and screamed and went on and on...
...about how the Kelpie dragged her son to the bottom of the loch and devoured him.

Oh wow, they're almost dog-like. I love how the Kelpie shows up in different countries under different names, but essentially it's the same creature.

Durr, I hit "send" before adding: this is a wonderful pic; I especially love how the Kelpie transforms immediately below the water line, and an excellent choice of murky hues and overall composition.

I love the setup of this, the colors, and the previously mentioned 'oh shit!' look on the poor boy's face. The hair and the water also have a lovely diagonal flow to them. It's always great when pieces distract you from your plan of things to draw.
I'm still gonna do a chibi version of thisXD Gotta love evil but cute!

Hahahah "I'm going to diiiiiie! *splash*" Usually when I try to draw "oh shit" expressions they always end up looking like the poor girl/guy is smiling like a donut.
