Description A gift painting for Alan at Horizon Wings of Athena, the peregrine falcon. Athena suffered an injury to her wing, and we believe there may be nerve damage, which is why the primary feathers don't grow as long as her good wing. Being aerial aces, peregrines must be able to fly at 100% - any handicap in their flight is a death sentence. Her wing also droops a bit. Therefore, she is a permanent resident at the center.

Watercolor on hot-press Fabriano, 5 X 7 inches.

Yeah, it's sad when we're unable to release a bird in rehab. However, the permanent residents have the chance to educate people about raptors, which in turn helps the wild birds as well!
