Description This was a Pitcher Plant I was taking care of for 2 days for my boyfriend's parents.

It was a gift for them since they love to take care of plants, such as these, I recall anyway.

Yes, just like the Venus Fly Trap; they are carnivorous and love to eat insects that fly into them. You may think, "Wow, a insect must be pretty dumb to fly all the way down into one of those!"

Actually, they have hairs on the leaflet part *as you can see.. the little cute prickery looking things* and on the inside of them so the poor bug that flies on it/in it can't get out and becomes stuck.. all it/they can do is go to the bottom.. and wait to die, to put it. Or more like - be digested.

There's acid, similar to our/human's stomach acid.. helping the plant digest/break down/kill the insect that falls prey to it.

They are more beautiful, if I may so myself, than the Venus Fly Trap, but the Venus Fly Trap is more "complex". Hehe.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking.

This is a Sarracenia, ain't it? how beautiful and elegant! If I were an insect, I would be honored to be eaten by such a marvelous plant XD

Pretty, but deadly I would not want to get my hand caught in one of those

Your macro shots are good. The new camera has crisp, clean picture. With a little practice with focusing and depth of field, etc, you will be on your way to working for National Geographic someday, eh?

Not really macro, well, close enough to it... sorry-excuse for it because I do not have a actual macro lens. I want one.. but I need to settle for what I have now.

Maybe one day. I actually want to do what Grandpa did.. well not exactly total scuba diving but coral reef snorkeling would be awesome especially for underwater shots.

Except if you have ever seen the original 'Jaws' There is that section near the end of the film where Richard Dryfus' character is rammed by the Great White, and the cage is crushed. Time for plan B...RUN! (or in this case swim)

HA! I did not even notice until you mentioned it. I said "oops" in reference to opening my big mouth concerning 'Jaws' Have you seen that film by the way? Check it out; 'tis a classic Becka and I had our first encounter with the killer Great White at grandpa's house as children. I still get nervous whenever I go to the ocean. I can always hear the theme song in the back of my mind.

I cannot remember if grandpa took many photos of sharks. He did more filming than photography I think. I know he did swim with sharks on a few occasions.

Cheerio

Such quick typing reflexes you have

The part of the film that always frightened me was the scene where the boater loses his leg, and it sinks to the sea floor For a film of that time, it was quite realistic.
Oh, speaking of shark footage! If you have not seen this, it is incredible:

I cannot recall what type of hi-tech camera they used to capture this, or by how much the filmmaker said he slowed the images down, but it is eye-popping

I know You cannot even see what is happening with the footage at regular speed. Slowing it down really gives you a good look. You also get a sense of the size of that monster compared with his prey. I would not want him tickling me with those razor-sharp toofies

I'm more eying the bunnies there!
