My first very much worked on cg. I'm just laying down skin color, hair color, and eye color. SKIN COLOR IS SO HARD TO MAKE EVEN ON THE PC!!! Ok I just thought I'd point that out. But yes, this is just a random doodle I did a few hours ago and then cged a bit.Pssssttt....critique me!!!!!

Don't worry about the coloring until you start using tablet, because everything will be much easier then, trust me. I'll try to give you some pointers when you get that far.
You've got the basics OK, I see. Have you ever tried using a reference? (I can understand if you haven't, I rarely use references..but it's really helpful!)
I'm not sure if you're going to realistic-looking faces or more stylized ones, but faces are rather detailed too. Maybe that's what you're missing here? They eyes, the lips..everything has so much small details. Try drawing just a face on a bigger sheet of paper so you can focus on the details. (making pictures too small is never a good option, really. You can always shrink the picture laters.)
