I started this the day before yesterday while my best friend Chrissy was sick, drawing in the semidark while she napped for an hour and a halfish...I just, FINALLY, finished playing Ocarina of Time for the first time. After ten years of deep devotion and obsession, having seen friends and siblings beat it time after time, I, the non-gaming lame-o who falls off of everything, FINALLY beat my favorite game of all time. X3
And soooo many moments were just beautiful. This isn't just a random portrait, it's actually almost exactly referenced from a screen shot ([link] ). I figured that was okay because a.) I suck at creating my own interpretations and have been way out of the swing of drawing >.>;;; and b.) there's something incredibly emotionally satisfying in rendering something exactly from the game into my style (hey wow, I have a style!
one of the many things about myself that Chrissy, BFF *CallistoHime , has been helping me realize X3 such as the fact that yes, I'm an artist and not just a wanna be >.>; and all sorts of things like that).Scanning it in changed some things, like brought out the grain more and messed with lighting...I still like how it looks, though. ^^
Ocarina of Time is one of the most beautiful and stirring games of all time
IMO, the most.Much love to Zelda, my BFF Chrissy, my other dearest friends and all beauty in the world ^_____^
edit: The turban and lower face are left without certain logical details because I, sentimentally / as beckoned by the muse, wanted to keep true to the screen shot. The only real significant departure from the screen shot is her eye...I felt like it wanted to be looking a little to the side...it just somehow fit the emotion, her emotion. Thanks for picking up on these details! But they're intentional. ^^
Done in two days, I don't know the hours
with Chrissy's 0.7mm mechanical pencil and one of those click-click-click retractable erasers!

Aye, true. But they generally have a longer face blow that so they have room for a mouth. It wasn't necessarily the length of the nose...but the length of the nose in relation to the length of the entire face. If...that made some sense. Apparently I haven't done much of a job in explaining. :sigh: I'm not very good at it.

With the lighting, though <_< the reason the lighting is strong on the left but shadowed in the face is that her hair blocks it and shadows her face =O I could've made that clearer but I was tired

Each of the things you pointed out - the lighting and the nose detail - were actually part of a silly thing...I knew the nose should have been shown but I wanted to keep it true to the reference, even in such a silly way. Well noted! But intentional.
The light, it's that way in the game, but I don't view that so much as a mistake - if you recall the lighting in the temple it came from a few different directions. I'm definitely no lighting expert! Again, I was imitating the lighting in the screen shot (linked in the description). I imagined it sort of left-side backlit-ish, plus reflecting light from another direction that I couldn't quite figure out...
The eye is the one thing I did intentionally change. Following the muse (just as with the lack of nose detail / length of nose and the detail-less cap)...she wanted to be looking away. It was a conscious choice.

Oh true, I wasn't referring to the nose not being visible, so much as it not being high enough. The wrappings could easily be made higher to keep it canon

Mhmm, except in the screen shot it was also that low XD I really liked the length of her face and the shape it created, and I wanted to emphasize that - I guess you could say I consider her to have a particularly long nose, because it just looks right to me - not anatomically, necessarily, but right for the look I wanted. Believe me, I sat and pondered this question
I put the screen shot in one open paint file and my pic into another one and switched back and forth to compare >.> I actually did shift up her cowl a tad in order to make her nose/face a liiiittle more reasonable
