Backstory Stuff -

Malaika wasn't hated like Ibilisi but neither was she treated like royality such as Cimeries... she just existed in the background alongside her father Liokufa and she was fine with that. She hadn't the spine to be worthy of the helm, let alone worthy of being a Damu. They were known to be cruel, boarish and savage but Malaika was anything besides that. Lenaba thought her weak and though she never openly demeaned her daughter for it, Malaika knew her mother was disgusted by her existence. She tried to keep peace in the family, often breaking up feuds between Ibilisi, Cimeries and Lenaba. It never worked though, she spent many days nursing Ibilisi's wounds and feeling terribly for the males under the harsh hyena regime of Lenaba. Liokufa was glad his daughter was so peaceful and gentle but he feared for her future, she couldn't protect herself should someone want to tangle with her. Malaika grew up close with a pale hyena named Rutendo, having bonded with him as she was guilty of what Lenaba often put him through. She shared a strong tight knit relationship with Ibilisi, one that broke apart once he took the helm and began his reign that progressively became worse. Cimeries is inprisoned and used as an example of what happens to rebels in the clan, as well as his anger towards what Lenaba and Cimeries did to him his entire life. She grows close to one of his two personal footman, Mjinja and he takes pity on her when she begans to plead for his help saving her sister and others in the clan. Mjinja doesn't escape with her, having stayed behind to fight off Chinja once he catches them. She begs Griselda and Takatifu for help with the other refugees of the Damu and as time goes on realizes Mjinja has left a piece of him behind within her...
