Description I owe ~pm-ark a debt of gratitude. She kindly shared the params of Soon summer . I love playing with her flames (gosh, that sounds funny).

This one looks like some exotic floral centerpiece to me. How about you?

Done with Apo 2.08 3D with postwork in Photoshop CS.

Full view for detail and download is 1280x960.

Update 06-30-09: Based on 's advice, I re-rendered this and applied a higher Filter radius. This should improve the quality of the image.

this and the other similar one remind me of xmas, well done but I dont know enough to be a critic

You don't have to be a critic, just commenting on how you feel about a piece of work is enough. I don't request critiques on my work anymore. Most people are like you and don't feel they have enough expertise to really "critique" a piece. But, sometimes a critique is just a personal feeling or response to the work and you are letting the artist know how it impacts you, rather than give an empirical or technical critique.

You might have a stronger fractal if you rendered it at a higher filter radius. It would help remove some of the grain without muddying the details too much

I agree totally. I have just discovered post-rendering, so I am re-rendering it now as I type this. I will re-upload the "hq" version, if it looks like a substantial improvement. Thanks for the tip.

A truly wonderful and beautiful flame. I love the colors in this one too!

Thank you, Lea! I can get carried away sometimes when I get hooked onto something. And I'm seriously hooked on these flames. Now that I've done a few that I like, I don't feel quite the pressing urgency I had when I was trying desperately to achieve something half-way decent.

I'm so glad you like. I like the almost pearly quality to this. I think I took a built-in pastel gradient and played with the contrast, brightness, and saturation to achieve the right depth of color.

Yes, I love that quality about this one too! Love the softness, almost a satiny finish. Funny isn't it, how we get into crating these things. They are so beautiful!

Should we play Fruitbasket Turnover?

hmmmm Let me see.... are there any oranges in there?

Yes, let's! No oranges, but there may be a pomegranate or two, or is that a pineapple?

Debi62 In reply to wolfepaw [2009-06-18 05:28:17 +0000 UTC]

hmmmm Ok... I'll settle for pineapple since there's no . My mom told me the other day though that pomegranates are like the Roto-Rooter of fruit! They're supposed to really clean you out! I think your liver mainly. I get Cranberry-pomegranate juice and it tastes good but I didn't know it was also supposed to be a cleanser! COOL! Ok.. let me look for that pomegranate too then!

These textures are awsome, and I also love that palette of colours.

Thank you, Josette. I'm glad you like it. I am addicted to these right now. I get like that - stuck on something and tweak it into the ground and then move onto something else. I did it with julians and, of course, the jellyfish thing and my "magic carpets". But it's nice to pull out those old friends and embellish them every now and then, just for fun.

This is beautiful .. I need to sit down long enough to try this. I didn't do well with the jellyfish. LOL

Thanks, GypsyH. I appreciate the nice words.

What happened with the jellyfish? The tentacles can be a b**ch, I'll admit that! I may post a flame pack of just jellyfish. There are some really weird looking ones. Some good, some not so good. One day, though, I'll hit on the perfect combination (I hope).

I had trouble with the tentacles and called them testicals. LOL I gave up.

Thanks, Anystasia! I find just changing pitch, yaw and perspective can really make a world of difference. That's how the "flowers" get "arranged". I appreciate the lovely comment and I'm so pleased you like it.

This is lovely. Reminds me of a few years ago, we were all up at a large forest. They had a cafe, it had ridiculous table centre arrangements. Being the artist I decided to improve on them and added the stirrers we had for our drinks... The staff didn't like it and came over and actually told me off. They should have been paying me thousands for such creativity and originality.

Yours is a million times better...

Thank you, Roz. And another good story to boot! Well, you know, not everybody appreciates art. That's why we come to dA, so we don't have to put up with people whose taste is all in their mouth.

You can stick whatever you want into this one. Some of those little umbrellas might be cute!
