Well, he doesn't normally wear shoes because they're uncomfortable for him with his soft warm fur, it's not really because he doesn't like them exactly...

Yes, because they like wearing shoes for aesthetic reasons, not because they absolutely have to. Look at it this way, you ever seen those old pictures or paintings of babies and little kids from like a hundred years ago? Especially country kids. They often wore clothes, but rarely shoes unlike their parents, because it was more comfortable for them, and also because it symbolized innocence in a way. Culturally, throughout history, children have worn less clothes than adults. That's about the best way to describe it.

That reminds me of the wordless book "Deep in the Forest," but it's not like I owned the actual book, just parts of it in a first-grade English book.
In that book, in which the Goldilocks role is played by a bear cub, and the house belongs to a human Pioneer family, the child of which resembled Goldilocks, and she was always barefoot, while her parents wore shoes.
