Communism is internationalist and Marxist with the unification of all nations and a stateless and classless society as a main goal. National Bolshevism is Socialism in one country with Nationalism and Post-Marxist by nature as it rejects vast parts of Marxism that strive for a stateless society and internationalism which no National Bolshevik desires. The ideology has its origins in the Russian Revolution when White Army members changed sides to the Red Army for example and in Weimar Germany there were such groups publishing papers and most Nat. Bolshevik theorists also are German (for example Niekisch or Paetel) but were hunted down or expelled like the Strasserites by the Hitlerite regime. After the collapse of the USSR there also were many National Bolshevik groups advocating strong Nationalism and that Russia should re-unite the lost lands of Eurasia. They used the Tsarist and the USSR flag side by side and protested Yeltsin's capitalist government. Later a few of them would found the modern NazBol Party of Russia which would be forbidden by Putin and later refounded by Limonov its former leader as the party Other Russia. Other than in Russia there are small Nat. Bolshevik groups in Spain and France that strive for a different line of National Bolshevism rejecting Limonov. And yeah most modern Communists reject National Bolsheviks and call them "red-fascists" since they don't understand their ideology just as much as Fascists that view them as Communists. There are MLs/Stalinists or Jucheists that are allied with National Bolsheviks though and Strasserites also commonly view them as an ally in the fight for Nationalistic Socialism without the Capitalism under a cloak like in Hitler's Reich.
