"What do you mean you're leaving?" Jam murmured, her electric green eyes shimmering with blooming tears. Tilting her head up, Jamboree bit the inside of her raw cheek to stifle a weak cry, her eyebrows furrowed in pain that truly, she had never felt before. Artemis gazed down towards the lanky mare, their eyes glazed over with a new sense of compassion and sympathy, plopping down in front of Jam carefully.

"Some things are quite hard to understand, Lady Jamboree. Even for myself." Artemis informed, their crystalline eyes locked onto the intricate constellations glimmering above. "-I often ask myself questions that even I can't answer; that no one can. It's decisions made from the heart. I am more than just a glorified organizer; I was made to defend- it courses through my veins, and I am reminded daily. It just so happens that Equestria is in dire need for protection, and I could never forgive myself if I didn't provide that for my subjects." The heir murmured softly, bringing a hoof to Jam's wet chin. "I could never do anything to hurt thou, Lady Jamboree. You mean too much to me." Jam glanced down to Artemis's hooves as they intertwined with her own, her eyes drawn wide. With a snarky giggle and a pitiful sniff, Jam furrowed her brows, a growing smile appearing. "Are you trying to say you love me, Arte?" the pink mare cackled as Artemis's feathers ruffled, a growing crimson spreading from their cheeks to the tip of their ears. "No need to get worked up, feather-butt. I love you, too. Just come home in one piece." She sighed, burrowing her wet face into the endless amounts of feathers.
