This is pixel art - not an emoticon. I only used the emotes because they were suitable for use as orbs

Three reasons why I'm so happy with this:

One: I used no references for the textures
Two: I've finally started using none-standard dithering and it looks awesome
Three: Finally something more to add to my story

So, what this is: 100% pixel art

This is a stone table that contains stones representing individual elements. The 8 in the ring formation are (from top) Air, Lightning, Fire, Metal, Earth, Wood, Water, Ice. The three in a triangle formation are (from top) Mind, Body, Spirit. The three in a horizontal line are (from left) Time, Void (in the centre), Space. The other two are light and dark.
Basically, in my story, the villagers are all born with control of one or more elements. A person uses the table to clarify which element they control. They place the hand over the centre which causes the stones to glow and the stone of the element they control will rise indicating which element they control - it does not give them their power, that's nature's job. If they have more than one, more than one stone will rise. If they have a non-standard controllable element (eg. temperature) two or more appropriate stones will rise and combine (eg. for temperature: air, ice, fire). The person will then keep the transformed stone and the stones used will be replaced.

I was originally going to put in channels connecting the stones which some form of liquid would flow down in order to activate the table but I've left that out for now.

I love how in the animation the mind orb looks like an eye opening and closing
