Gorgeous scene. It seems to me that you've certainly mastered the art of digital "painting." Very relaxing to look at... wow!

That's nice to hear, I love to inspire!

Grass. It's a thing I always struggle with, usually it's a layered process. I start with some basic color blocks, shades of green/brown. Over that I'll paint with rough textured brushes in lighter or darker shades, to get a sense of where the light hits the grass or the lay of the land. After that I'll go in with a simpel round brush (very small/thin)) and scratch in individual strands/leaves (what's it called?) and lumps of grass. I usually pepper that with some dots/spots of colour where flower beds grow.

That's sort of how I work. There are some great foliage brushes that can give a nice base for undergrowth. Those are great If you want to speed things up.

Enjoy!!

You made this in an hour and a half? Stunning! It takes me an hour and a half to think of what to make.

My favourite part of this piece is the fog. It pulls you in, but it almost makes you feel lonely as well. I really like it.

I remember it used to take me that long. I tought myself to not think but do, it really helped me take it a step further.

Check my gallery out, I just do Speed paints like this, although in a different style, I too find speedies, more fun, I don't like getting bogged down by hours of painting one piece, gets boring.

I like bigger projects too, but I just don't always have the time. Nice gallery, your use of colours far surpasses mine.

it's awesome, I always love the way you draw landscapes and this one is very cool 'cause it's not only drawinga place but also an atmosphere and even if it's speedpainting, there are plenty of details

Simply amazing painting, once again. I like how the colours create such a impression of a misty moor. Simple beauty lies there.

1,5 hours feels such a short time for creating a painting like this. It really requires skills to plan composition and do all those details (reflection in the water, plants and flowers, birches). I have to admit, that at the moment I'm trying to see all those layers you might have used and technical details like that, heheh...

Waiting for more!

woutart In reply to Tulikoura [2010-05-12 07:11:38 +0000 UTC]

Thanks friend. I was aiming for no more then an hour, but alas .

It has only one layer actually, to keep the momentum I feel it sometimes better to use just one layer, keep it siomewhat 'traditional'. More will come!

Tulikoura In reply to woutart [2010-05-13 22:13:13 +0000 UTC]

And here I thought more advanced artists prefer more layers. Phew for that! It seems there are countless ways to paint, like with traditional tools.

Frankly (and technically) speaking, I tried to deconstruct this painting of yours in my mind in order to learn something, but no avail. But on the other hand, if you could see the layers that easily it would be not that good, right?

This looks like a real oil painting. Keep up the good work.
