It depends. The bald dude is memory in this one, and for the girl, I actually sculpted a female base mesh in zbrush and 3d rendered her out to get the lighting right. Then I will use the 3d render as reference. I use photo reference sometimes, but I find it easier to re-pose the 3d models I create, versus trying to find reference that fits the pose/lighting I need. Plus it just good practice to sculpt things from scratch sometimes Zbrush is alot like sculptris btw....just ALOT more in-depth and packed with features. Its pretty expensive though, but worth every penny if you like 3d sculpting

Now I want to try zbrush!!! That would be great to get just the pose you wanted with the perfect lighting. I have a hard time finding just the right references too. I was looking for a gladiatoral pose last night. I really want to paint that image. But it's hard to find just the right stock

Yea, the dude does look a little strange. Kind of a different take on an angel I guess. I was watching Dark City while I painted it, so that may have been an influence
