Just a little something to try and shake loose my creative muse. It has been a while since my health has permitted me to play at my art desk so today I forced myself to sit down and work. This pretty little Betta fish is a 2 1/2 by 3 inch pendant made from white sparkly sculpey clay. This has several layers of lacy fins and is quite three dimensional. It is painted with iridescent copper and acrylic inks then sealed with four coats of matt acrylic sealer.This has been hung on a simple ribbon with clasps. It is for sale.Related content

Actually the idea came from a fish that was called a copper dragon. He did not look like this in real life but I felt that with that name....this is what he SHOULD have looked like!

Well I have a Bagri Maro, and I was thinking I would like a wild Valkyrie's mount, like a young stallion they haven't begun to break yet, but one done in a less realistic style and something a bit more stylized so he really looks like something you would expect to see running around outside Freyja's halls.

I did a little research...are Valkyrie mounts supposed to have wings? Most artwork that I looked at they have wings. By stylized do you mean...OMG horse of the apocalypse....you want me to get on THAT... fantastical kinda thing? Actually have had a work in mind for a while called "Born of Blood and Thunder" which is along those lines.

....I'm really not sure I understand what you're saying. I don't know if they are supposed to have wings. I do know they are supposed to shine and their coats gleaming cause the Northern Lights. I just don't want it to look stocky and clunky and slow. I know what the breeds up there look like but I want something that looks more ethereal.

I thought you might know as a lot of the artwork depicts them as having wings and I did not think that they were supposed to be pegasus like. So you are looking for one more along the line of this [link] or this [link] [link] In other words Something elegant and fiery that looks as if it could walk on air...in a fantastical setting?

The ones I saw depicted in old Norse art showed them running on clouds, with no wings, so I think the idea was they were just so fast they didn't need wings to fly. I dunno, I don't think even the Vinkings were clear on how they flew, only that they were brilliant and powerful. Maybe something like a Teke with the feathering of a Vanner?

I'd like it to be a sister-piece to the Bagri Maro, so... oils? And about the same size? The Vikings did use runes, yes, and if you could work in Odin's two ravens as well I'd be thrilled. Nice winter night, full moon, snow?

I thought they did use the Runes. YAY I love working in oils. I think this will run just about the same as the Bagri. Unlike it though I think I will work up a couple of rough drafts for you to choose from. I don't think I can get this done by Christmas and have it dry enough to ship. Will this be a prob?
