Description Hey guys

I have graduated and am working on making a few masks to test some techniques and utilize scrap fur and leather I have. This mask is made from a face that didn't have ears so I added scrap ears. I used goatskin to make a belt-strap that I got for free, as well as some tooling leather I got for free. When this is all done drying in a few days I will post a final on the body and such. The coyote fur came from a tannery that was selling off the faces very cheaply, they got them from a furrier. I believe the coyote is a north-western US yote. I believe in using the scraps for a better life. It should be able to fit a wide range of faces because the strap goes a bit smaller than 22 but up to 30 size.

Gonna make an etsy account in the next week or two to sell the masks I want to make. I won't be taking commissions as the fur I get is random and based on what scraps I can obtain ethically.

I am terribly and incredibly jealous of how awesome this is! I really love the way the nose reshaped--I've been having trouble getting mine to straighten out, so that's one detail that I always hone into when I'm stalking people's work. I also really like how this one fits on the face, and I think it's because of the eye area. I love that the model's chin lines up with under the nose to almost "fill in" the lower jaw, which in turn to me makes the line-up of the coyote's eyes with the model's eyes work very well. Very lovely work, I look forward to seeing more in the future!

:3 :3

The nose is the hardest part, and I haven't exactly perfected my art in that area. Every face I get seems to have another challenge I didn't expect with the nose cartilage and no matter how many tutorials I read and pictures I look at, I can't seem to get them perfect. I've found that the longer I let the skin rehydrate in the fridge the more supple the nose gets, but, if there is too much water it will make it slip. A fine line. I only soak them for 10 minutes though. I then spend most of the reshaping time on the nose, actually, and then the ears take the next most time. I can easily spend over an hour fussing.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with the noses despite tutorials, then haha.
Most of them say just that--soak them longer--but it is hard to soak just the nose without getting slippage on the upper muzzle. I did read one suggestion for wet dryer sheets on the nose, but it didn't work so well (although I was surprised how many people recommended using a dryer sheet as a "back" for sewing up small holes in the skin 0_0 I would have never guessed, although they also weren't making masks for skin-to-skin contact xD) I did my first one before I left for a week so I wouldn't be tempted to keep trying to fuss with it while it was drying. (Our house sitter found my instructions "please check on head in bathroom" to be rather humorous though. xD)

I saw you uploaded some more so I'll be continuing to creep over the next few days!

I've been working on a few more fox masks this weekend since I had the time, I'll post probably two more this week. I also have a few very bad coyote faces I am not sure what to do with.

I only let them get wet in water for about 10 minutes, then I let them drain out extra water for about ten minutes, bag them and keep them in a fridge. I leave them in there for at least three days and when I take them out I don't really start immediately. I'll massage the nose and ears but wait until they come back up to room temperature to start working them. I never heard of the dryer sheets but for sewing that sounds like a good idea! I avoid sewing because I don't want the skins to tear more over time (the leather is almost always very shitty) so I would rather glue more leather to them instead. Sometimes the scars look cool anyway so I keep them.

I'm currently leaning towards the $40-50 + shipping depending on how much work the face is in the reshaping process.

I am just waiting until I have my DBA and etsy store opened, but I'm happy to hear there is interest! I am making a second mask right now so hopefully when I open I'll have two coyote masks.

You really fixed those ears up well! I love the shape of the mask. Do you know how much will you be selling them for? I'm definitely interesting in buying one.

About $40-50 I'm thinking for these guys depending on how much work I have to do in the reshaping process. And thank you, I really love working on the ears and the noses the most.
