Description
PREVIOUSLY: Truth || Takes place last winter!
Fury broiled deep in the Astir's chest, neck arching as he broke through the treeline. Elisabet stood silhouetted against the winter sky, flanked by the she-devil's spawn. His pointed figure was unmistakable, although he had filled out extensively since their last encounter. He had been little more than a whelp then; harmless. Impressionable. Both seemed aware that they were no longer alone, although Loki didn't give them much time to presume. "Elisabet" he roared, bursting forth with unmatched ferocity, haring straight for the maroon Vektreni. "Get away from him."
Hellion snapped at the stranger, first protectively of his assault towards them, and then for the rage towards himself. For a second, his heart was torn in half. He was not sure if the other wolf would cause Elisabet harm, and on the other hand, if he was caught… again… oh man. The Scion shoot the female an apologetic, desperate glance, before recoiling like a seething snake, fangs bared and muscles tensed. The assassin drew away quickly but did not move too far away, still clinging to the fear of seeing her in harm's way.
She did not know what was happening. Liss’s eyes widened in shock, not comprehending the look in Hellion’s eyes even as he darted away from Loki’s snapping fangs. Dread was settling deep in her belly and it was suddenly hard to breath. No! No this wasn’t right at all! Tail tucked, Elisabet pressed towards her Astir with a whimper. “Loki! Loki no, he’s my friend! Stop!” She begged, fearful tears in her eyes that she scarcely noticed.
Spine coiling, Loki positioned himself between Elisabet and the retreating Vektreni. He could feel distress rolling off her in waves, but his anger would not be quelled. Her words were haunting. What had this devil done to ensnare her so easily? “Silence” He ordered, whirling on the female with a brief snap of his jaws. They would discuss this later. Right now he had a duty to protect. Body rigid, he shot a menacing look towards Hellion’s distancing figure, “Get. Out.”
He faced the other male with a overdaring glint in his eyes, mouth parting for a snake-like hiss- but he backed off nonetheless, his gaze shifting from the black wolf to Liss. No. He shouldn’t press his staying. Without a word, the scythe proceeded to back away slowly, eyes locked on Loki until he faded off in the shadows of the treeline.
Elise stared, eyes glittering with horror, as Hellion slunk away and disappeared. Lips curled, she let out an angry, grief-stricken cry, “He didn’t do anything wrong! We’re not even in Vale! You’ve ruined everything!” The young squire tugged at Loki’s thick mane like a whining pup, heedless of his warning, before dropping to the dirt and sobbing in defeat. “He’s my friend.” She repeated quietly through her sniffling.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After Loki discovers that Liss has been sneaking away to visit Hekate's son, he quickly intervenes and attempts to impress upon Liss the dangers her companion poses. But Hellion has only ever been a friend to her, she's never seen anything that would mark him the crazy, heart-sacrificing cultist Loki claims. And she's not about to believe her Astir's word over her own experience. He forbids her from leaving Vale unattended, a restraint the free-spirited young she-wolf does not take kindly to. Over the next several seasons, Elisabet continues to find more and more creative ways to sneak out of Vale behind her superiors' backs, oblivious to the fact that her blatant disregard for her own safety may eventually push Loki to drastic measures...
