Description
The night's not over yet
You can't escape me
You simply cant forget
You can't escape me
The party's just begun
You can't escape me
You can try, that makes this more fun!
Riley’s Emotions face many varied and dangerous antagonists during their travels, but the powerful warlord known only as Jangles the Clown is easily the most intimidating of them. He commands the Ringling Raiders, a group of cutthroat, thieving motorcyclists that terrorize a good chunk of the Wastelands, and runs a sizable criminal empire that deals in everything under the sun to those with the cash to afford it, though most predominantly in booze, drugs, sex, and slaves. He admittedly has a few screws loose in his noggin, but you wouldn’t really know that just at first glance (general appearance aside). He’s surprisingly well-spoken, reasonable, charismatic, generally laid-back, and can work a crowd like no one’s business. It’s only after he’s angered that one really sees how unhinged he actually is. That’s not mentioning his bloodlust in battle or his mile-wide sadistic streak.
I took inspiration for Jangles' design predominately from the Joker, the Grand Highblood (from Homestuck), and BlasticHeart’s humanized Springtrap. That’s paint on his vest/gloves, btw. He’d like you to think it was blood, but as blood turns an unattractive shade of brown after it dries, he had to settle for paint, which is meticulously reapplied every other week or so to keep up the pristine splatter effect. How his hair stays so consistently fabulous is a mystery for the ages. The edges of the plates on his knuckles, elbow pads, and kneepads are also sharpened, meaning that if he punches, knees, elbows, or basically hits anyone, they’d likely be down for the count in the next few seconds. His favored weapons are his sledgehammer and the chain he wears as part of his normal ensemble, though he also has a spare knife or two tucked into his boots and a pistol normally stashed away somewhere. He may be crazy, but he’s from stupid, and he didn't get where he was by being sloppy.
1. While Jangles couldn’t care less about the majority of the Emotions except for how he can use them to further his own goals or his own personal amusement, he does develop a vested interest in Joy, seeing a kindred spirit of sorts in her. He likes to appeal to her darker side to mess with her and would be utterly delighted if she actually took him up on his offers to join him. She finds him creepy, disgusting, and though she would never admit it, he scares her, if only because he has a way of getting under her skin and bringing out all of her deepest fears and insecurities. She is about 2 seconds from elbowing him in the gut here.
2. I mentioned in a headcanon post on my tumblr that Fear and Jangles have a history, and that it wasn’t a pleasant one. Well, for Fear, at least. Fear used to work for Jangles once upon a time, both as a medic and, when his skills with a sniper rifle were discovered, as the occasional assassin. He hated every second of what he was forced to do and what was done to him there, as Jangles and other members of the Ringling Raiders routinely got their kicks out of terrorizing and brutalizing anyone who seemed weaker than them, and eventually he finally found the courage to escape (long story for another time). However, if there’s one thing Jangles doesn’t take kindly to, it’s betrayal, which leaving the Ringling Raiders in any way other than in a body bag is seen as. Things aren’t going to go well for Fear if Jangles ever gets his hands on him again, let’s just put it that way.
3. Welp, we’re all screwed. Has anyone got a machine gun handy? Maybe a bazooka?
