Oo, a nice composition. Or rather topic, the composition would be a lot better if ithe soldier's back were already turned against the stalker/creature/whatever. But dramatic it is, in any case.

Yes, I can see that; it's true that if the soldier was too much in front, the focus would be ruined... and you would have to draw the human with more features and so... Hmm, but I think it's only the tall grass that pushes the man "back"... I guess so, anyway...
