Pure Romanian Beauty. I know this model and she has awesome greenish blue eyes depending upon the day. Stunning girl

Absolut fantastice fotografiile tale, omule! Desi nu ma omor dupa cele alb-negru in general, e ametitor felul in care folosesti lumina!

A truly beautiful image and I don't just mean the model (who is in herself stunning - may I ask who she is?)! Composition, pose, make-up, lighting, even that casual but oh-so-sexy off-the-shoulder sweater that continues the line of her cheek. Maximum use is made of contrast and tonality here (and that's what monochrome photography is about after all) without loss of detail at either end of the tonal range - the gloss of her brunette hair is not lost in shadow, neither is the background maxed out and her skin appears to 'glow' in a way that is hard to achieve without colour! I disagree with the negative comments on contrast and composition made by others - the model is subtly lifted out of the background for me by the softening focus at bottom-left. I honestly believe this is the best portrait shot I've ever seen on DA, possibly elsewhere too - it's the sort of thing I'd love to sketch from but the res. is too low, the cropping too extreme (I'd need that shoulder!) and I'm not sure my skill level would do her justice (see gallery)! Great work...

Thank you for your kind critique and appreciation! I'm happy that my image touched you in such way as obviously that's my intention for the viewers.

I appreciate any critique and don't mind negative ones as it's just another proof that everybody is different and has his/her own vision of things. One cannot please everybody

I'll email you a higher rez version of the image.

I do like your work, but don't worry, I'm not afraid to make (hopefully constructive) negative comments occasionally, but as you say, everyone is different and so I never neg images just because they're not right for me...

awesome picture! the only thing that bothers (not the right word, but me no native speaker ) me a bit is the negative space in the top right corner. in addition, you have a high contrast between the dark hair and this white background. this pulls the eye away from the face. on the positive side, the way the dark hair frames the face is brilliant!

Thank you for your critique!

When your eyes go tired of the background, where would they look? It's a common trick to make the eyes go back to the model. This is not intended to be a high-key image ...

maybe it is just me and just to clarify things: if it wasn't for the already awesome picture I'd never stopped by in the first place (and added a comment)! plus, i hope it ain't negative critique i have given but a constructive one. and to recieve critique like this is one of the reasons to upload stuff on a platform like this, i guess.

anyway, i hope you do not mind when i stick around a bit to study the composition and stuff   keep up the solid work!

Hey! No worries, i never see criticism as negative but as constructive. I appreciate any comments and I accept that we are all subjective and look at things from our own perspective.

You're welcome to stay. There's no photographer in the world that has to stop learning as there's isn't one that the best ... We merely try to get better with each image we capture ...

Beautiful, it's absolutely gorgeous. The dodge and burn really brought out the depth of the model, its just mesmerizing.
I just have one suggestion(it's still perfect), she has beautiful eyes and i think they are light colored, maybe u can do a portrait variation where the eyes have color but the rest is still in monotone.

Edken! Thanks for your critique! I usually tend to do portraits where I show the light eyes color and maybe lips. I just decided not to do it for this one, wanted it to be a pure B&W portrait
