As Father is the only non-human in KND with a non-humanoid form, it begs the question: is Ben a wizard who can shapeshift into a demon and a dragon, or is Ben a dragon who can shapeshift into a human or demon, or is Ben a dragon disguised as a human or demon? All three theories have been put forth.
