Lara, however, was INCREDIBLY close to her father- Devin Mishva, a family man who came from a horrible family background, resorting to stealing to keep himself alive as his parents were super neglectful of him. Lara normally spent her days with her father learning what he knew and applying it to whatever she could at such a young age, but when she had turned seven, his health had taken a turn for the worse and he had died from the same disease that killed Trisha Elric, making Lara feel incredibly isolated and angry at the world, she hated it, she hated Ishvala for taking her father from her and she mostly hated the people around her for not helping him when he needed it most.
By the time she was 13, Lara had had enough of her family trying to make her conform with their conservative and pious ways, completely loathing the fact Serah remarried another man, thinking she never even loved Devin (which was the case) and she left to grow up on the streets, no one had believed she would survive long but she was determined to prove them wrong. Young and naive, Larana was scared and confused on how to survive out on her own on these streets, and for the first night under the stars, Lara felt truly and completely alone.
Cut to a couple years later, Larana had grown into a spunky young woman who kept the military and the Ishvalan people on their toes, trying to balance survival in both her life and in the war, (murdering both soldiers and Ishvalans alike)even the fighting got to be too much for her and she finally decided to up and jump ship before the war got too much for her psyche, taking her spear, some food and water, the clothes on her back and a picture of her father before bidding her home for years goodbye until she could return home someday.
Over 100 miles travelled with no sense of direction to be had and she ended up in Dublith, finally collapsing in exhaustion only to be found by Greed while walking around the little town, deciding to take her back to the bar to get her back and moving. Upon waking up, Lara immediately noticed the change in her surroundings, taking them in slowly and noticing Greed at the bar also made her realize she was safe, away from the destruction and horrors of the war; She was finally far from Ishval.
It took her a bit to give him her trust, but once the offer was brought up again, Lara accepted almost instantly- Free food, a place to stay, all for only working for him? She was sold, it was a total 180 from her old life and she intended to remain Loyal to him for times to come.

Around the time when the Gang kidnapped Alphonse, Larana was absent for that frame of time, wandering the streets of Dublith and honestly doing her own thing, it wasn’t until the ring of gunshots from the bar hit her ears did she race back to the home and family she’d known for years only to come back to seeing her friends being taken out of the bar in body bags; she had a hysteric breakdown and had to be held back by Bido in order to keep them safe, she’d never felt such heartbreak since her father died.
After the raid on the devil’s nest, Lara hung around Rush valley for a while, having nowhere else to go before packing up shop and heading to try and find someone to travel with or to search for Greed in the hopes he was alive. Ending up travelling with Scar, Yoki, Marcoh, and Mei, Lara headed up north with them to briggs, if they needed the help she’d gladly give it to them even if she butt heads with scar at times due to their incredibly different points of view.
In Baschool though, Lara breaks off from the group and stays behind with Edward, Darius and Heinkel, wanting to help get the alchemist back on his feet and apologize for several things that happened in the past, even things she was never around for. Upon running back into Greed (now Greedling)her knee jerk reaction is to join back up with him, but she waits for Ed to give the notion to him before becoming his loyal guard dog again.
Around the sunrise of the promised day, Lara had gone to central with the main group, breaking off before they reached the 5th lab to “join in the fun” over at central command, helping the briggsmen, Buccaneer, and Falman defend the front gates. Seeing Bradley alive and waltzing through the front gates of the command center they fought hard to take under their control got her blood boiling, the last straw being Buccaneer getting injured, this caused her anger to cloud her judgement, one wrong error in her movement and her right arm was gone in one fell swing of Bradley’s sword, she didn’t expect it, she didn’t see it, and the glowing red eyes of Wrath were forever burned into her skull forever.
Lara doesn’t remember much after that point, she only remembers waking up in the hospital without anyone around her, only silence. When the news of what she missed hit her ears she couldn’t help but just cry, grief, joy, relief, sadness- all wrapped into one, she didn’t know how to react and she was alone once more, her best friend was dead, her family was dead. She truly had nobody left. And it scared her, truly it did.
About 6 months later, Lara finally worked up the courage to get herself automail, even if she was still reeling from everything that happened to her.
