Description No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can't choose what stays and what fades away

Heaven help me, I need to make it right - Florence + the Machine, No Light No Light

Art Story: You saw my Shepard for the first time happy in the picture with Garrus [link] Well, I wanted to properly introduce her, show who she is. This is Tempest Shepard. She is about 70% Paragon, 30% Renegade. She feels fear just like anyone else, she hates killing - it's directly against her nature. But she wants to save people more. She wants to try to make this galaxy better the only way she can, and save whoever she can.

But there are a few people she couldn't save. A few people too many.

So she fights for the comrades she lost. And she fights for Palaven, Thessia, and Earth because she couldn't stop the Reapers from reigning down destruction on them. She steels herself, pushes her emotions back and fights because she must. She fights to protect and to prevent anyone else from having to suffer. And she fights for her lover and comrade-in-arms, Garrus.

Not one more.

Art description: Original image: 1920 x 1080. Time taken: About a week.

Wow, this took me a while (days and days) because I had to learn how to extract her armor from the game. Well, I did thanks to a great tutorial but it doesn't come with the proper colors or patterns. It was just completely gray/white, everything was. So I painted it myself, every little detail o_o And it took me hours, because I'm not a damn painter. But at least it's done for future artworks.

I also redesigned Tempest's face a bit to closer match my in-game Tempest Shepard [link] and it took me a while. Funny thing is, you can't even see any of the new detail I added XD Next time though. I also wanted her hair to be up but I couldn't find a good hairstyle like I wanted, so let's just say her scrunchie broke in battle

I learned a lot and I like how this came out. For once, something came out very similar to how I envisioned. I'm also testing out watermarks, so feel free to let me know what you think on how obtrusive the watermark is.

Credits: Many people and tutorials and software helped me make this. So credits are below:

Thank you to for sending me a link to a tutorial on extraction.
Thank you to nhaneh from tumblr for the excellent tutorial and for helping answer my incessant questions even though you did not know me from Job.

Had to come back to this for a third time, just so damm AWESOME....did you export models from 3DSMAX then imported to XnaLara, I finally perfected my texturing methods, now I got to figure how to export them...good work, and again, great work with that story, both sad and "happy", keep it up!!

Hee, thanks Let's see...It was really quite a mixture on this one. Shepard's armor I extracted myself from the game using umodel and then rendered/posed using 3DS Max. Every other model present was simply posed in XNALara, well except for Shepard's face which comes completely from DAZ Studio 4. Let me know if you need the tutorial on extracting from the game and rendering/posing in 3DS Max (posing in 3DS Max is only a little more difficult than XNALara). I have two ideas for two more pictures I'm just trying to catch up with the writing and decide which one I want to do next. I learn so much whenever I do these, it's so fun Thanks for always being so supportive!

Well extracting was the simple part, figures....I've gotten them imported, skinned and posed, but once I started placing two or more assets into the same scene, the figures began to morph together, Shepard and Garrus began to look like fish heads , so ANY tutorials would be nice, I love reading the many ways on how to do the same thing, always new tricks and things to learn...thanks a bunch for your help

I found extracting to be a huge pain in the ass but that was mostly because I was doing custom armor pieces and had some trouble making sure I got everything. What program are you using? I've never had them morph together, but I think I remember the tutorial I used mentioning that possibly happening, so I'll just link that here: [link] It goes through different parts of the process, beginning with extraction all the way to a simple end composite picture in 3DS Max.

I love this piece. The whole "supernova" effect you have going on is excellent and I like the original look of your Shepard. Coming back to DeviantArt is a great decision for you.

Wow, this is so beautiful, I mean really really beautiful. Honestly, I didn't really even notice the watermark until you pointed it out in the description.
I also loved that you included thane, mordin, etc. Looks like you let Ash die, that's alright she's a bitch lol.

Thank you And hell yeah I let Ash die. I mean, maybe we could have been friends but it was Ash or Kaidan and at the time all I knew of Ashley was that she was opinionated and somewhat prejudiced annddd plus I was about to hit that ass with Kaidan (this is my first character, so it was before ME2 came out and you know, Garrus, but I probably would've done it anyway), so it was an easy choice And then in my most recent playthrough I decided to let Kaidan die to see how her personality progressed, but so far she's still pretty much a bitch XD

Nice one ! I love Garrus' eye and visor in the background
And from your description, your Shepard and mine seems very alike, personality-wise !
She's 70% Paragon and 30% Renegade as well, and she romanced Garrus too. c:

Yay, another person who agrees! Lol, I just told someone that the other day who was listing off F+M songs that reminded them of Shakarian. Strangeness and Charm does too so I'm pretty sure I'll do something with that one day...but that will probably rated M Thanks for commenting!
