yeah there's that... but thinking now, who F*CKED Kariya up was Zouken not Byakuya. so... i end up forgeting about that. to think now, Zouken was kinda of a Dick to both his sons (Kariya for quiting, and Byakuya for being 'useless').
you know what, forget what i said, the bigest asshole is Zouken, if Shinji is an Asshole, that's because Zouken made him this way

Zouken fucks up everyone that goes by the surname Matou. What I meant was that Byakuya despised Kariya, much like Shinji goes with Sakura.

Kariya and Byakuya were Zoukens nephews, not his sons.

Byakuya is an asshole to me after I heard the Drama CD.

The saddest thing about Shinji is that Byakuya tried to hide the truths from him, unsuccesfully (In the Drama CD, Byakuya says that he was neglected since birth, so its obvious that he didnt want the same suffering to his son). And when Byakuya died, Zouken told everything to Shinji anyway, so Zouken was right in Heaven Feel. Byakuya died meaninglessly and it was in vain.

Being a Matou is suffering, dude...

The Matou family was a good source of drama in Fate Stay Night. Too bad that since the main focus isn't them, people end neglecting their drmatic potential.

To think that it all started with a decision of hundreds of years past...

1. Let the search for a better world to future generations and die gracefully.

2. Seek immortality to get the solution yourself.

Zouken chose 2. And a horrifying bad end for him, his family and a lot of people happened.

I wonder how things would be if he chose 1.

Maybe in an alternate nasuverse.

oh... i didn't heard the Drama CD (only watched the Animes, the Movie, read some on Type Moon wikia, but not much cuz didn't what spoilers, and i'm currently playing the Visual Novel).

but... didn't Kariya calls Zouken 'Father' in Fate/Zero? (and Kirei said to Zouken 'do you enjoy seeing your own son Suffer?').

and i know Byakuya disliked Kariya but i never knew he treated Kariya like Shinji treated Sakuar. (but then again, didn't saw the Drama CD).

didn't knew Byakuya died (do they explained how it the VN? if they do please don't spoil), and it seems he neglected Shinji because he wasn't fit to be a Magus right? (i remember reading somewhere that after Kariya quited, Zouken turned to Byakuya and he tought he was finally gonna be usefull for him if he could give him a Magus child right? then Shinji was born and... what a let down). but knowing that he tried to protect Shinji kinda makes him less Asshole doesn't it? (too bad that Like Kariya with Sakura, it was no Use)

but yeah... being a Matou sucks. mostly because of Zouken. thinking now, wasn't it be easier if Kariya just asked Berserker to Kill Zouken? then Sakura could go back to the Tohsaka, Kariya would be the Hero (but he would die anyway), and every one would likve less miserably and Shinji would not be such an Ass.

Ah, in the Drama CD, Byakuya is drinking as he curses his miserable life (in the novel he curses Kariya) like a total jerkass until Kiritsugu cames, interrogates him and he breaks down crying. it´s more brutal in the Drama CD than in the anime.

Nope, in the novel he is Byakuya and Kariya´s uncle.

He disliked Kariya because Byakuya was neglected for being useless, just like in the case of Shinji and Sakura. Thats what I was talking about.

Remember the Heaven Feel visual novel? Oh, sorry, you are playing it...Well, when you reach the part of Shinji´s past, he describes some of his relationship with Byakuya. In the UBW he talks about Byakuya in a negative way, but it changes in HF. I won´t spoil, but what I can tell you is that things went to Hell after Shinji found out that Sakura was the heir.

Nah, Byakuya is an asshole. No matter how hard he tried to hide the truth from his son, he went along with Zouken´s plan and it´s implied that he raped Sakura because of her training.

An irony was that Shinji had become the person Byakuya hadnt intended him to become.

don´t forget that without Sakura around, Byakuya wouldn´t have to hide anything from Shinji and yes, Shinji would not be such an ass.

it will take me a while to finish the VN (i'm still in 'Fate' right after Shiro Train Swordplay with Saber for the first time), well i won't make anymore questions cuz i don't wanna spoil anything, anyway thanks for the info ^_^/
