I've watched every episode back-to-back and I don't recall any episodes where a gas tank was shot.

Oh, I know. I wrote it before I realized that the car explosion in the opening title sequence was caused by more than just shooting the gas tank. It's more about action shows in general; Burn Notice is just what I happened to be watching when I thought of it.

Well.... what if it made a spark from colliding with the metal when piercing the metal gas tank? or the character is so awesome that by just consternating on something they can make it explode and they just use the shot as a reason it exploded to hide their true powers? IDK a person can still dream can't they?

I saw a episode in NCIS where Gibbs, boss main character guy, shot a gas tank of a RV, and i was thinking the exactly the same thing

The only thing worse than your girlfriend/wife/mistress ect. telling you the facts about cop/spy/action movies/shows is when they explain all the improbabilities about sci-fi...I KNOW the force isn't real, but can I at least ENJOY my "Return of the Sith" WITHOUT commentary woman??!

So true, knowing that some of the explosions and other flares in shows aren't realistic takes some of the fun out of them.
