Description

Continuation of the challenge. Unfortunately, circumstances again forced me to finish later than necessary. I will continue to draw for the challenge, but apparently the posts will not be as regular.

Day 10 "A dinosaur sleeping": Lambeosaurus lambei. Lambeosaurus is one of the most famous hadrosaurs. This particular species had a mitten-shaped crest consisting of a flat front part, and a posterior spike-like one, whereas L. magnicristatus had a large flat crest without a pronounced posterior spike. This specimen is shown sleeping on its belly, but the dinosaurs may have slept on their side.

Day 11 "A dinosaur family": Stenonychosaurus inequalis. This shows a male with a brood. Stenonychosaurus was synonymized with Troodon as T. inequalis, but a 2017 study found that Troodon may be an undiagnostic genus, since It is known from a tooth. Anyway, Stenonychosaurus was a fast-moving theropod that fed on small animals and vegetation. Nests with eggs of this theropod are known, as well as an incubating individual. The embryos preserved in the eggs were well developed, and the shells in the abandoned nests were not crushed. This means that the chicks were precocial. It is possible that they followed the parent (or parents) like the chicks of ostriches, ducks, and chickens. Since paleontologists have identified the incubating specimen as a male, it is possible that in this species fathers took care of its offspring. This male Stenonychosaurus has caught a lizard and its brood quickly runs to the fluttering prey, hoping to tear it up.

Day 12 "Dinosaur(s) playing": Macrocollum itaquii. Macrocollum is one of an increasing number of Triassic sauropodomorphs. It is known from three fairly complete specimens. Macrocollum reached 3.5 m in length and belonged to the Unaysauridae family. This individual enjoys lying in the ferns. Play behavior is usually associated with birds and mammals, but in fact it is shown by other animals, including non-avian reptiles. Thus, it Is also possible that non-avian dinosaurs demonstrated behavior that was just to have fun.

...to be continued.

That last one, the Macrocollum looks astonishingly cute... reminds me of my dog, or even my chickens when they are lying themselves on the dirt or grass, just enjoying themselves...
