Sooo.... I decided to do this when I found the reference picture... only I moved his eyes to look towards us.
I hope I pulled that off well enough.
Other than that, it was very fun!
I used my tablet again, wooo.

The face and neck are very similar, because there are small particles of dust / dirt that is characteristic for the pirates.
But his lips are too soft/clear - it is minus.
In humans (pirates) - lips are little rude, but it seems that Jack enjoys hygienic lipstick.

Aww thanks for the criticism! I agree. I think the reason his lips are so soft/clear is because I am such a perfectionist. I probably just wanted to make him have nice lips, subconsciously.

Ahh yes. I got your point, not filthy but still. haha. I have a bit of trouble with drawing cracks and stuff on photoshop. I don't know why, I just have an issue with it.. I try and I do add them, but always fade them out a bit. I just get really frustrated and don't like the looks when I draw them. I need to practice that though, for sure.

yay! I was really indecisive about shifting his eyes when I first started, but I'm glad I did now. :3 I wanted to pull it off and was really unsure if I could. Thanks so much for the comments and favs!

Well I was pretty experienced at photoshop before I even got my tablet, so I just use photoshop CS2 when I'm using my tablet, and use the skills I have. When I first start it, I use gaussian blur a LOT for skin. I will draw a lot of lines, thin or thick in different colors, usually on different layers, and then smooth them using gaussian blur. It helps me a lot, but it doesn't have to be used. After I have the shade and color pretty much finalized with the skin, I just go through with the skin texture brushes and paint over top.

Being able to do traditional drawings helps me a lot too, so those skills are great to have when using photoshop.
