Description
Oil paints over acrylics, on canvas. The concept initially was to use only acrylics for this but the shine, and value and the vividness i couldn't achieve in just acrylics eventually. There are some thing clearly that only oils can do...My ref image used with kind permission

This is such a nice painting!!!
I like the soft impression underwater contrasting with the women face. Of course the colors are unique - like often in your works. Here they are well chosen: not too agressive but adding to the contrast. Actually they give another impression than the original: more like floating in a dream than floating in a swimmingpool...

the misty effect in the water was all the fun lol. As soon as i was done with layering the color over this area i took my BIG (2 inch) brush and started lifting color while blending at the same time (kind of how Bob Ross used to if you have watched any of his episodes?

the patterns in the water didnt turn out to be super realistic but they matched my impulse of making this look like a dream (if this makes sense to you? )

Absolutely! besides you don't have to recreate a ref image exactly. It is, of course, your interpretation of the image and not a copy! Loved it!

Having seen and commented on the various stages of this including the final version there is not much new I can add. I do think your choices all along the way with her have been perfect, and I am still totally taken with your brush strokes here. This is once again a prime example of you breathing your own bold style and colour into a very good reference, and making it completely your own.

i didnt tell you i was finally able to get started on the little girl with the bunny today? as a matter of fact i am now layering clear gesso on my canvas (yeah i do that because of sealing and adding texture that looks super under the oil paintings) and im so happy right now!! Its so cold today anyway that i have no intention on overdoing it with chores or cleaning so it will be about art today
one thought was to do the girl on a chiaroscuro (which wasnt how my ref looks anyway) and do some gold lace patterns behind her small figure, it will contrast nicely the black background and her soft blue dress but then i am thinking maybe this will be a major exaggeration? I mean her face and body as she is staring down at the bunny on her lap will be very soft, elegant and tender, so i shouldnt add more elements to it in the end?
hmmm i think i must reach to a specific stage with this one to decide on it...
