reminds me of my cat, spike. he was my first real pet that I got truly close with... I helped my mother with the birth, as our cat (his mum) was way too young to birth... and spike was one of her litter. was such a little puffball. but then years passed and he became huge, a great and powerful hunter. I would often see him sat on shed roofs looking out proudly over the local domain.
he used to sleep on my bed with me too
some crazed idiot fed him something laced with poison when I was about 15.
well, that's why I look at this with mixed joy and sadness.
looks just like my little fella when he was young. beautiful.

i am sorry for your loss...they are never just pets for me you know? they are family members.Actually its THEM adopting us and not vise versa.
My cat turned 13y this year.I hope i get to have him for many years to come, although i fear the dreaded moment he will not be a part of my life anymore. I sure know he will be a part of my heart for ever.

I feel the same way. we adopted animals from rescue homes, because my family helped me learn that all animals have feelings just like us. to me, personally,
I think some animals are a damn sight smarter than people.
cats never wage war. they fight, sure, but they have never fought in huge numbers between themselves over disagreements....
so I think humans are nowhere near the advanced "sentient, special non-animal" that science still claims us to be...
animals are no different to us, we just give ourselves airs and graces and lord it over everything else.
that said, im a pagan, so to me mother earth deserves the same respect as my birth mother, and the creator, the universe around us, deserves the same love. so I treat everything unconditionally with love and respect. its trying to get others to see that view that is my problem. because I always loved the world (hug a tree, there's nothing wrong with it!) as a kid the local kids would bully me- so it was probably because im so loving that they hurt my cat.
love your pets every moment you can, but try not to fear losing them.
