I decided that I want to make a proper reference for Nightmare, one of my oldest OCs (he literally exists for like 10 years), because... Well, he deserves one after all that time I guess XD
Since Nighty is a shapeshifter whi has 5 the most common forms which he uses all the time, I decided to draw all of them for the reference. But, since the final reference with all of them will most likely end up being massive and it may completely destroy the quality of the original drawings in the process, I decided to also post all of them separately.
So... Yeah, you'll be getting a lot of creepy cats for some time and a full reference with all his backstory at the end. So I hope you enjoy creepy cats, lol XD

So... It's his shadow form.
It's both the first one he ever had and the weakest one, since he can't really interact with anything physically and some of his powers are weakened. The good thing about it is that as a weird shadow/ghost thing he can't really be harmed (unless by something with supernatural abilities that it) and that it's pretty quick and hard to catch. He sometimes uses it when he needs to run away, but he's also forced to take this form every time his physical body gets destroyed. At this point he hates being stuck like that for too long because of all the limitations, so when it happens, he'll intensively start haunting people's dreams to feed of their negative emotions. He needs some amount of energy to keep his physical forms (which is different for different ones) and that's the best way to get it. The time needed to fully regenerate depends on the damage he took before. The longest one for now was after he got almost killed by Gedrae at one point and took several years.

His shadow form looks like a weird shadowy figure looking like something inbetween a cat and some insect, with some glowing eyes. Usually A LOT of eyes, often in weird spots. Because... Well, Nighty REALLY loves eyes, lol XD
