Description
A pencil drawing based off a photo my dad took, showing an Arctic Tern, or 'Tirrick' as they're known in Shetland, which is where the photo was taken.Not altogether happy with the clouds, but I think the bird itself worked out fairly well.

this reminds me of a book i once read called "Okay For Now". The kid Doug was learning to draw birds and he drew an arctic turn first!

The wings were the part that I most directly copied from the photo, the lighting on them was really hard to get right - so, as you can imagine, its really lovely to hear that I have done - thanks so much!

Spotted a fav of my own photo, came to see what it was all about... Found this... And it is awesome. I do agree that the clouds are hardly impressive, but I didn't notice them at all. The focus is on the bird, and the quality there is pretty good. The clouds are little more than filler, to keep the background from being all-grey. Fantastic work!

Yeah, those clouds were a real afterthought and the more I look at them the more I wish I'd left them out - but I'm really happy to hear you like the main focus of the drawing that much!

The tern looks very good! The bottom cloud looks fine, but you should study cloud shapes and compare to your top cloud. Usually, having a flatter bottom part of the cloud will look more realistic
