Alright- there has been a massive confusion somewhere along the line.
I've had a good hunt around and it was her friend that had passed away in the car accident- I do believe so, anyways.
It appears somebody uploaded it to a furaffinity account, and then was involved in a crash; a fatal one, at that.
I only heard it off the grape vine, and it was months ago

The Butterfly Dragon is one of my favourite animations of all time- I have the music on my ipod and it reduces me to tears whenever I watch said animation.
If she/he/whatever is dead and gone, then that's life. If they're not, then great- fantastic! Even better.

I have no idea, you'll have to ask the animator for what the story is actually about, but I don't think the story is as literal as that. I think the Butterfly Dragon became the mask, and with it, showed the little creature how to fly. Then the little creature showed the larger one how to fly too. Or something like that

Wow, its more simple than I have thought, I was crying as a baby the last weekend thinking in it, and breaking my head for it and my grandmother because I miss her.
I think it is like a voided tree, its unoffensive but if you see monsters inside are whose you carry from you, in this case my fear to the death.
The same metaphore with the movie.
