Interesting image, I like that it is original. I like the colours you have chosen, they are rich and look really good, they also add to the mood on the image.
The green reminds me of the poison the title is talking about, while the purple might stand for the experience she has through the smoking.
I would have loved to see the face a little smoother and overall, also the hair, it seems a little stuck, not really flowing, if you get what I mean.
The fingers, especially the thumb, could also be reworked, it does look a little awkward to me.

This is a truly striking piece, no doubt thanks to the originality of the content and the symbolism behind all of it. First of all, the colours are well chosen and they suit each other well; the choice of the contrasting purple smoke and the green beads in particular is excellent, especially when you remember that green and purple are the most common colours associated with poison. The background colours are well chosen, and I like the earthy gold and dark reds involved too, which almost grounds the painting in a sense. Also, I like the slightly pop-art feel to the demon; I thought that was a neat touch, alongside the twisted elegant curls of smoke, which make it look almost architectural in appearance.
There are only a couple of things I have an issue with. While the overall anatomy of the woman is fine - I especially love the taut, straining muscles of her neck and wrists! - The hands seem a little awkwardly placed, especially the one on the viewer's left. The fabric of her dress looks a little too fake and a little too plastic, for lack of a better word; maybe you should work on folds and creases to make the material more natural-looking. Also, while the woman's face is generally good, especially her bone structure, it still looks flat to me. Her hair looks a little unnatural too, but then again, that could be just your style. Hope this critique helps!

This picture is interesting to me though it's reminds me of certain pieces of the rolling papers JOB advertisement.
here's their site : [link]
Those adverts were painted during decades and decades until they started to release photographs adverts.. anyway the general atmosphere is, to me, too dark and so doesn't give you a path to look at the picture.
It decreases the contrast leading to a flatter impression of the drawing, adding some more light could lead to a drawing which still have a dark purpose with a more powerful light on some certain parts, like the cigarette, her face or even the smoke deadly face.
Despite this contrast point, the greek style base and the 'roof' are greats with well chosen colors and beautyful curves.
The woman is well drawn as well with maybe too much details on the neck ( unless it was done intentionally, it gives her a little ill aspect ).
The purple smoke is great because of its form, it's something between smoke and flesh that really inspires heavy darkness surrounding the woman.
The pose of the woman is really great and well transcripted, you can easily imagine how great it feels for her to pull all that smoke at this precise moment.
It's a good work in all its general caracteristics but the neck is well illuminated and catch the eye at first sight.. if it's intentionally done it's great, otherway it works too much e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />
The title suits perfectly the drawing, good work, great color research

Oh, thanks for this critique man.
It's an interresting analyse for me, because it points an issue that I wasn't aware at all :
It's not intentionally from me to catch the eye on the neck, I would have preferred to catch it on her face first.
On my laptop this picture is effectively rather dark, I should adjust the computer on witch I work then.. :s
But after all, it will allow me to work the light ^^

Wooow~ Love the overall effect, the textures look great, and the smooth colouring of her chest is lovely.
1. Her right arm (our left) is a little too long in the forearm. The elbow should stop at the bottom rib in the ribcage, while here it seems to reach her bellybutton.
2. And on the topic of her right arm, the curve of her wrist should be a lot tougher, if you know what I mean? It bends, yes, but protrudes a lot more.
3. This is probably nit-picky, since I'm going off how my mother smokes, but I think the cigarette should be placed higher up between her fingers. I've always seen it at the end of the first finger joint, right where the thumb reaches if it tries to touch between them. I think it's because they tap the cigarette with their thumb to knock off ash, but either way works, really. Speaking of hands, you draw them nicely!
4. I think her neck should be a wee bit shorter, but I really like how you drew it~
5. The edges of the smoke when it curves should be rounder, less spiky. Of course, that might be the pointβto seem scary or some such, but since the title is Smooth poisoning, I thought I'd mention it.
6. I would personally suggest putting some light on the area of string where the necklace has no gems, to clarify. I just find it a little odd how you can see the string on her shoulder, but when it goes down to her chest, it disappears.
All in all, well done! I love how you did her hair, and her expression is very effective.

The expression... the colors... This one has a strong meaning to me. The cigarette in her hand, the blissful way she exhales it and the obvious pollution coming out of her nostrils.
Her hair looks stiff to me... something that wouldn't bother me as much if it didn't seem to conflict with her function in the image. She seems carefree (perhaps overly so), indulgent... giving herself over happily to life's richer pleasures. Her clothes, her necklace... and of course, the cigarette. Everything about her seems... euphoric, except her hair. It looks wooden, I think.
Other than that, though, fantastic job. I love a piece that makes a clear statement like this without using any words.

Thanks a lot for your enthousiasm, I'm very very pleased to read this !

This rather remind me of a picture a really old picture about anesthetic when it was first invented. I would need to dig out the book I have it in and Im not really sure were that is.
But essentially the picture was of a person on a table under anesthetic and there were demons around them pushing down on their chest and what not.
Any who, very nice choice in colour, also a very interesting subject choice to ponder.
Very nice.

You really got a nice style there and I love all the details in it. And one question is the poison coming from her cigarette?

I love the myriad of colors and textures of this piece. I think its really amazing. There are a couple of minor things that I would like to point out however.. The necklace seems to be breaking apart and if that is the case then the beads should not be so linear. Also the hand holding the beats is bent at such an angle as it appears painful to look at. I do wish the full image was larger to look at so I could see more of the detail. But this is a great card.

Just too awesome. I love the symbolism behind it all. My favorite thing is her unrealness, like her hair and that smug expression on her face. To me, this symbolizes another world. GOod work!

the smoke needs to be wispier and less block colored. she could do with some nice defined lips. but other than that i like the overall dark theme and tones.

Nice illustration.
Your characterisation of the smoke as a dark and hazardous entity was highly succesful.
The being naked part, I am not to sure about.
The link between her voluptuousness and her pleasure was quite honestly lost on me.
It falls out of the reach of my own subset of logic and knowledge, so therefore, I couldn't apreciate this part.
All in consideration, this was quite a succesfull illustration.
